Dont worry. You're just a young and idealistic Illinois. Sooner or later, you'll catch up.
So California will produce the Asian-American or Hispanic-American equivalent to Obama?

I thought that Turkey had actually invented rocketry and gunpowder.
"It is important that Texans know their safety, constitutional rights, private property rights and civil liberties will not be infringed upon."
Gov. Greg Abbott, on deploying the Texas State Guard during Jade Helm
Waco biker shoot-out: 170 face charges in Texas
A lopsided contest that ends in 5 minutes with a bunch of Texans on the ground... crying.He means that only Texas cops and guard will infringe on the rights of Texans, not the US Army...who were already planning not to.
It will be interesting to see what happens if some of those trigger happy nut jobs they grow down in Texas open up on a military unit.

Lopsided contest without a doubt. But US military units are not really geared towards leaving the people they put on the ground crying. Usually when they put people down they put them down for keeps. Their idiot governor might shed some crocodile tears I suppose.
I was thinking along the lines of riot suppression, especially with tear gas. I'm not sure the military would improvise a lethal response to a situation it can clearly anticipate.
That would not rule out nonlethal methods for subduing a target (you're underestimating military training re: escalation of force), and there's no sense in starting a large firefight over a few unruly idiots* (at least not on American soil where better options exist).I was thinking of some idiot "militia" thinking that this is their big chance to get notoriety by jumping up to "defend private property" or some such borderline nonsense and finding out that the military isn't really trained to deal with grandstanders. That wouldn't be a case of the military "improvising a lethal response" I don't think. It would just be doing what they do against armed attackers.

*I think the response would be different if it were a sizable proportion of the Texas state guard, but I wouldn't equate "some trigger-happy nut jobs" to a concerted assault on military personnel.
I don't know man. This is the land of:
<clink> Honey, did you hear something in the kitchen?
<rummages for glasses> I'll go check it out.
<picks up shotgun with safety on>
<starts walking downstairs>
<sneaky sneaky man looks up>
Who's there?
<8 assault rifle bullets to chest>
Armed hostile eliminated.
<continue searching erroneous address>
<arrest the newly widowed for good measure>
<no charges filed>
A good day in the land of tough on crime!
I love the smell of freedom in the morning.
