just as a reference of sorts there was this history debate on Saturday night where the hosts kept and kept on a book written about an Austrian ambrassador that came to Istanbul in 1628 , had a book printed on it afterwards and in it you can see some Ottoman Black dude flying in a balloon . 1628 ; a century and half before the Mongolfiere Brothers . on thread , ı heard it on today's morning news that 9 people died in a Texas shoot-out between biker gangs or the bikers and the police . Is that true ? In the sense the glorious defenders of Texas feel so compelled to prove that ı should keep my 5 divisions away , since they can like totally protect Texas from the US ? Even more on thread , is it really true that the Governor deployed against the US Army ? Or is it a joke ?

Lopsided contest without a doubt. But US military units are not really geared towards leaving the people they put on the ground crying. Usually when they put people down they put them down for keeps. Their idiot governor might shed some crocodile tears I suppose.

I was thinking along the lines of riot suppression, especially with tear gas. I'm not sure the military would improvise a lethal response to a situation it can clearly anticipate.

I was thinking of some idiot "militia" thinking that this is their big chance to get notoriety by jumping up to "defend private property" or some such borderline nonsense and finding out that the military isn't really trained to deal with grandstanders. That wouldn't be a case of the military "improvising a lethal response" I don't think. It would just be doing what they do against armed attackers.

That would not rule out nonlethal methods for subduing a target (you're underestimating military training re: escalation of force), and there's no sense in starting a large firefight over a few unruly idiots* (at least not on American soil where better options exist).

While the Texas guard may infringe on the rights of Texans, it cannot infringe on the right to form a well-regulated militia.

At least in that story the guy made it out of bed. Our local latest the guy was still in bed reaching for his glasses when they drilled him. Of course, being over eighty he didn't get up so quickly.
