The impending American Invasion of Texas

Sure!

It has cool parts. Sorta.

I thought that Turkey had actually invented rocketry and gunpowder.

just as a reference of sorts there was this history debate on Saturday night where the hosts kept and kept on a book written about an Austrian ambrassador that came to Istanbul in 1628 , had a book printed on it afterwards and in it you can see some Ottoman Black dude flying in a balloon . 1628 ; a century and half before the Mongolfiere Brothers . Turns out that was the herald of the guy's family , a semi naked dude holding a sword on a Red square background . People in Turkey look avidly forward for Turks to be proud of that and brag online so that they can make fun of them . Turkey invented the freaking Starship . The one that kinda works and not that Beech offering that kinda didn't ...

on thread , ı heard it on today's morning news that 9 people died in a Texas shoot-out between biker gangs or the bikers and the police . Is that true ? In the sense the glorious defenders of Texas feel so compelled to prove that ı should keep my 5 divisions away , since they can like totally protect Texas from the US ? Even more on thread , is it really true that the Governor deployed against the US Army ? Or is it a joke ?

"It is important that Texans know their safety, constitutional rights, private property rights and civil liberties will not be infringed upon."
—

Gov. Greg Abbott, on deploying the Texas State Guard during Jade Helm

Moments later, he ordered the invasion of Texas.

ahh , ı actually have an idea ; now that Chuck Norris happens to be a dude people used to know . So , what's the bets ? You ready to put money on Texas can not drive the US to the Atlantic and the Pasific and the waters above Canada ? Chuck Norris , man ! Even Sly had to make him solo in one those movies ...

He means that only Texas cops and guard will infringe on the rights of Texans, not the US Army...who were already planning not to.

It will be interesting to see what happens if some of those trigger happy nut jobs they grow down in Texas open up on a military unit.
A lopsided contest that ends in 5 minutes with a bunch of Texans on the ground... crying.

Lopsided contest without a doubt. But US military units are not really geared towards leaving the people they put on the ground crying. Usually when they put people down they put them down for keeps. Their idiot governor might shed some crocodile tears I suppose.

I was thinking along the lines of riot suppression, especially with tear gas. I'm not sure the military would improvise a lethal response to a situation it can clearly anticipate.

I was thinking of some idiot "militia" thinking that this is their big chance to get notoriety by jumping up to "defend private property" or some such borderline nonsense and finding out that the military isn't really trained to deal with grandstanders. That wouldn't be a case of the military "improvising a lethal response" I don't think. It would just be doing what they do against armed attackers.

That would not rule out nonlethal methods for subduing a target (you're underestimating military training re: escalation of force), and there's no sense in starting a large firefight over a few unruly idiots* (at least not on American soil where better options exist).

*I think the response would be different if it were a sizable proportion of the Texas state guard, but I wouldn't equate "some trigger-happy nut jobs" to a concerted assault on military personnel.

While the Texas guard may infringe on the rights of Texans, it cannot infringe on the right to form a well-regulated militia.

I don't know man. This is the land of:

<clink> Honey, did you hear something in the kitchen?
<rummages for glasses> I'll go check it out.
<picks up shotgun with safety on>
<starts walking downstairs>
<sneaky sneaky man looks up>
Who's there?
<8 assault rifle bullets to chest>
Armed hostile eliminated.
<continue searching erroneous address>
<arrest the newly widowed for good measure>
<no charges filed>
A good day in the land of tough on crime!
I love the smell of freedom in the morning.

At least in that story the guy made it out of bed. Our local latest the guy was still in bed reaching for his glasses when they drilled him. Of course, being over eighty he didn't get up so quickly.

wasn't it in the news in the 80s or 90s when those militia types actually went into "action" in Texas , holing up in some post office with all the residents of that town wishing them death ?
