What do you expect? 14 year old girls get obsessed with something, watch it over and over 24hrs a day... the phenomenon is nothing new, but now its just easier with youtube and whatnots.

He can sing pretty well and to little girls he's so hawt and cute. That's pretty much what he amounts to.

He'll grow old, get ugly and his voice will probably falter as well and in ten years he will probably be little more than pathetic TMZ fodder like Brittany Spears and the other "legendary" teen idols.

But Fifty! This is something new. Obviously, when the generation preceding us thought that our generation and the world we lived in was bad, we laughed at them, and everything turned out all right, so I don't want to chicken little (except that I actually do). Now that I've mimed wisdom and self-awareness, let me explain why this time, the world really is going downhill. I have this out of context statistic and a personal anecdote to prove it.

You see, young people are doing stupid stuff. We did stupid stuff when we were kids, but it was different stupid stuff. And this stupid stuff is like a bajillion times worse. And what's more, people aren't as good as they used to be. I mean, seriously. Let's give lip service to the concept of nostalgia, then think back and totally ignore the rose tinted glasses. Now, doesn't it seem like the world today doesn't measure up? Also, before anyone accuses me of being for [bad thing from the past], I'd just like to say that I don't endorse that, and I'm glad we put that behind us, it's just that I can't really comprehend that in order for a culture to geninely put [bad thing] away for good, it needs to make cultural changes I find disorienting.

And another thing. Have you noticed that popular culture marketed towards a youth demographic isn't as good as when I was in that demographic? I mean, I remember my elders being fine with my youth culture, at least after carefully repressing memories to the contrary.

To sum it all up, there was nothing new under the sun, until I came along. (See? See? Literary reference!)

Just another forgettable bubblegum pop star.

I was going to compare him to some past ones, but I've forgotten them all.

I'll never understand teenage boys' obsessions with teenage girls' obsessions.

If kids really hated pop stars and Twilight and such so much, they wouldn't flap their lips about them at all possible opportunities.

They should get some people who actually know how to bowl.

And in real life, that chick would likely be dating the quarterback on the football team instead of a kid who hasn't gone through puberty yet.

Dammit, tuckerkao, I was logged in to YouTube just then! Now I'll get 'YouTube suggestions' on how much I would apparently love to watch Justin Bieber :run:
I'd hit it.

Lady Gaga is better than Justin Bieber. I'd be more angry about Fred being popular. There's just nothing likable about him.

It may be most viewed but over 100,000 people think it sucks (vs. only twice as many who like it).

Quality over quantity.

This video on the other hand has 1,406 thumbs up & only 10 thumbs down. Why? Because these fellows may not be particularly good looking but they actually know how to sing & even a guy like myself who hates modern R&B can't help but appreciate it (even though I don't like the message).

Just because something is popular doesn't mean it's bad. 'Baby' is alright, not that good for my taste, 'One Time' is a whole lot better imo. I remember when 'Bad Romance' came out, I couldn't stop listening to that for two weeks straight. I still listen to it quite a bit.

 I'm a monster (that's what Lady Gaga fans are called, right?)
