The NESer Neptune's Pride Thread!

That (Youtube video) is great, it's basically exactly what happened to us :p! Although I thought at first that they had actually made a video about our game :p I suppose I could actually make one (I have some video editing experience) but I have no clips to use for it. Ah well.

Back to the game: It looks like Aiken is gathering his ships around Altais Theta. Seems like it's going to be a hard fight for it.

Anyway, now for an update! As I'm covering a long time, the years for the updates will be inaccurate, but you should know when I mean ;)

Year 20
The war is over. The battlefields are silent. The Imperial fleets are returning home. Long have they fought the Unionist fleets, with heavy casualties on both sides. But no longer. An uneasy coalition has been formed between the Northern Alliance, the Union and the Dathpathist Republic against the one true threat to this galaxy, and the freedom of all our people. The Aikenauts, along with the Turds and it's puppet states are growing stronger day by day. If we don't attack soon, it will be too late.

The Aikenauts don't yet know of this coalition, and the Union is trying to steal their weapons technology and give it to the other members of the coalition, before we undergo our invasion. However, the Immac Confederacy has sent it's fleets towards our ally, the UPM. Before we attack the Aikenauts, we must deal with them.

Year 22
The Confederacy has fallen, but not to us, to the Aikenauts. They have moved in with their colossal fleets and slaughtered any Confederacy citizen standing in their way. Joakim is also under attack from the Aikenauts' ally, the Turds. The Turds are even more tyrannical than the Aikenauts, and they also have very powerful fleets. Joakim has set up a strong defensive line against the invading Turds, but it is only a matter of time before they find a backdoor which leads them to the undefended systems behind this line.

We are preparing for our invasion, giving money to our allies, especially to the two Republics, who have been weakened the most by our war. The UPM is under attack from the remaining Confederacy forces, the Aikenauts' puppet state; the Boundless Republic, and some say the Aikenauts themselves. However, the Emperor has a Plan. The UPM will feign an attack and take control of Sheratan Phi for a short while, making the Aikenauts believe that our allies are on their side, but the UPM will just be building up their forces for an attack.

Year 24
It has started! The Union has managed to steal the Aikenauts weapons technology and has shared it with the rest of the coalition. Union and Republic forces have attacked the Aikenauts, with Unionist forces taking several star systems from them. Imperial Fleets, meanwhile, build up their forces and get ready for battle, but for now, we wait. The Plan seems to be working well, with the UPM feigning battles against the Empire, and the Aikenauts ceasing all attacks against them.

Meanwhile, Joakim is suffering heavily. The Aikenauts have found a backdoor behind the defensive lines and has taken several of the rich inner systems from Joakim. Our attack has seemed to stop the Aikenaut attack for now, but the Turds have also found another way around the line, and caused several breaches in it. The Coalition can't reach any of the Turd systems and so can't help, but we wish our ally all the best.

Year 26
The Imperial Fleets are on the move! The Empire has purchased the poor systems of Ksora, Biham and Alioth from the Kraz Republic, and now has a way to the frontlines. The Royal AYEEEEE Fleet has moved and attacked at Mintaka, a rich and well defended Aikenaut system, but didn't stand a chance when the Royal Marines touched down onto it's planets, and wiped out it's ground forces. When the Marines captured the planets, the fleets all simultaneously surrendered. It is now moving further into Aikenauts territory. The Kraz Republic has also sent several fleets forwards to capture the weaker, less defended systems of the Aikenauts. We Imperials destroy the bigger fleets, whereas the Republic mops up afterwards.

The UPM has also mobilised it's fleet, given back Sheratan Phi, and is now moving against the undefended Aikenaut stars to it's south. The plan had worked, we had the Aikenauts completely confused with what was actually going on. The battle is looking better for us than it once was, with coalition ships considerably outnumbering Aikenaut ships. That is, however, not including Turd forces.

On the other side of the galaxy, our great friend and ally, Joakim, has been defeated. They fought admirably and managed to hold off masses of enemy fleets for a very long time. Their last bastion of hope, Capella, fell to Turd fleets. The Empire is sad for their loss, and wishes to some day free the oppressed citizens, as an acknowledgement to their incredible sacrifice.

Year 28
The tide has turned! The Aikenauts are falling! Dathpathist forces have managed to take several stars, with Kraz fleets moving alongside the Imperial Fleet and taking even more stars. The UPM have slaughtered the Aikenaut forces to the east and made considerable gains. The Union, however, just isn't what it used to be. An Aikenaut counter attack has left them weakened and unable to move, even though the rest of the coalition has made considerable gains left, right and centre. We hope that the Union still has some fighting power left to take down some more Aikenaut fleets. Maybe the Aikenauts have just defended their border strongly. Whatever the case, we hope the Union isn't crumbling.

Lastly, the Turd fleets have betrayed their former ally! They have sent fleets right into the back of the Aikenauts and have taken considerable stars for themselves. The coalition finds this as good news, but fear the rising power of the once dormant Turds. They have replaced the Aikenauts as the top power in the galaxy, and pose just as much of a threat. Hopefully this is just paranoia, and we don't need to be afraid. Hopefully.

Just to note, my three day failure to attack was due to a counter attack ripping apart my 'tank Fleets' forcing my auxillaries to consolidate and wait for reinforcements. It became a stalemate in that sector but kept Aikenauts from moving eastward.

I think I lost all my Aries Dreadnoughts in the counter attack. I lost four stars, including two really nice ones I just finished pimping up too.

Breaking News: Order of Phact Fleet takes Brachium.

The current Regent Ben Factor called a press conference today concerning further aggressive movements by the Order of Phact that led to the loss of the colony on Brachium, Regent Ben assured the gathered media that the loss was all part of a cunning strategic plan to lull the order of Phact into a false sense of security and confirmed that a "reasonable" percentage of the citizenry on Brachium had been evacuated before enemy fleets arrived.
Meanwhile, the garrison at Mira heroically defended against the fleets of the Esotericum; destroying them completely as they exited Hyperspace. A victory already being hailed by people all over the Empire, ...as an actual victory!

In other news, the Imperial Navy is facing a recruitment shortage. Pundits claim that it is a direct result of low wages, outdated ships, the continuing use of ridiculous suicide attacks against the enemies of Denebola, and just the general hopelessness of the situation. More updates as they happen, here at DBC news!

Map of known space:
Spoiler :

I wondered what it would look like with scan range on it, not so great it turns out...
Also, I'm an idiot and should have wrote the names on it last  .
& I forgot EC's name. Peoples Republic of .. something, I think.

and my photoshop skills suck,

YAY! You get a space-cookie!

Two for Benefactor and Two for Iggy.

I just took Ter and moved it to the bank.

Terrance is an anagram of Ranceter. How'd you take a picture with everyone's scanning ranges displayed?

A lot of copy/pasting. I made the map normally, wrote everyone's RP names on it where possible. Then noticed me and matt0088's scan range was on it, so selected everyone else one by one and hit copy/paste 10 times. To be honest, it only added about 5 minutes to making it, I just think it would have looked better with no-ones scan range on it instead.

I've done maps with everyone's scanning range on before, but it usually just gets very cluttered and takes several times longer to do.

My RP name is the Democratic Republic of Sabik, BTW :p. We aren't Communists

I'm a horrible person!! ;_;

There have been moments like these in every NP game I've ever played, but for some reason, this one seems way worse than usual. Strange, how emotionally invested one can become in a scattering of stars and colours abstractly representing some false galaxy.

I hate you for tearing me apart. Should I invade Matt as well? Should I do nothing and be the 2nd rater who ignores his cards and folds? Should I backstab anyone?

The gifts, the comradiare... I made a monster! First I aided Aiken, stayed Daft's fleets from crushing his heart, and given him the funds to expand. And Then I put him down like a useless dog. I urged Matt to attack, and eventually he did. Now he has inherited Aiken's Mantle. Shall I betray what I have created once more?

I hate this game.

Damn. I love this game.

Pshh, Matt has as much chance as I do of coming out of this alive and well... his numbers are crazy and my forces are a little scattered. That's really funny you said that though, Terrance, because I sent him a message in-game saying "I hate this game as much as I love it." :D

lawl, You don't realize how spread out my Fleets are. I'll likely lose the entire Boundless Sector before I can get significant reinforcements by tomorrow, especially once the pair of 360 fleets get around. I make 1300 Ships a day blahblah, you'll be even in stats by taking the Boundless sector!
