The NESer Neptune's Pride Thread!

And thus does the brighter side of Neptune's Pride emerge. Ultimately, it is not the victory of the most treacherous, but the victory of the best able to aid his or her allies and create a positive impression.

Exactly. Abaddon just tried to get everyone to go against each other, whilst he sat back and puffed his pipe. But we knew the true threat to the galaxy, and united against the common foe!

I couldn't resist... it's Argentis here! I've never played Civ in my life, but I've been playing NP and love it, and I think the job that Terrance has been doing has been great.

Fun game we've got going eh? I've been really frustrated for the past week with my on-and-off access... I was unable to access the game at a few rather important key times. But I'm back at my own place now and the United Planets of Merak are back on their feet. :)

That's cool. It's really neat to see NPers coming into our little subforum- if you're interested, we run fairly regular games, and will likely start our next one once Starflyer's Game is over.

Thanks! :) I'm glad Aiken invited me to Starflyer's game after I played a random free match with him and others, and more sound like fun.

I'd even be happy to host a private eventually - if I don't have enough credits already, I probably will soon.

Well, the game I'm currently in was paid for by my credits, so I'll need to win a few more free matches to earn the points to host another 12 player game. If you'd like me to, I could add you to our scoreboard on the first page of this thread. :D

I suppose you could have a free game and make sure everyone in it is from CFC and then let someone take all the stars really early on, and everyone else will just sit there. You could get them to focus on economy then science to get fleet speed as quick as possible. This way you can make sure that they finish as soon as possible and get 10 points for the premium game ;). And welcome, Argentis! (It's EC BTW)

Well, Abaddon has already suggested doing that EC. It might be a reasonable technique for gaming the system.

Oh right, the person to come first should be the one with the most points already.

Sure, add me to the scoreboard! I don't imagine that I'll be putting this down anytime soon. :P

Great idea with the point farming if need be... As it turns out, I already have 25 points built up from over the past three months, when I was introduced to this strategy-gaming form of crack. So yeah, I can create a biggie if need be at any time if it is deemed acceptable by those involved. :)

Pardon my asking here if this isn't the place, but do you guys all just know each other through these boards by chance, or in real life, or a combo...? And how long has everyone else been playing?

Well it looks like you'd be the highest for points then, seeing as Iggy just got our new game going. And to answer your questions; I don't know anyone on this board IRL, but I know that Aiken and Boundless know each other, and there are members meet ups every so often. I've only recently started playing NP, shown to me when Aiken posted on another subforum about it, a bit longer than a month ago. The games at the moment I'm playing are my 2nd and 3rd games (the one you are in being my second).

We're all here because we're fans of the Civilization franchise... and many of us are here because of an interest in strategy gaming, alternate history, story writing, and various combinations thereof. EC himself is a fairly recent addition to our subforum.

Starwhomper's update: Aiken (pink) is now invaded simultaneously by Terrance, Daftpanzer, merciary, EC and Argentis. Aiken's total fleet is as big as ever (5000+) but is still losing stars, looking set to drop below 80. Matt (aka Turd, dark red) sends an expedition to hold off Argentis (yellow) and prevent his emergance as #1 player for now.

Fleets of over 2000 ships are not unknown in this conflict.

Something called 'RL' seems to have interefered with Aiken's high command.

interesting2.jpg

Stars / Ship count:

Daftpanzer: 32 / 700
Argentis: 78 / 4000
EC: 41 / 3000
Terrance: 40 / 2500
merciary: 30 / 900
Allies: 221 / 11,100

Axis: 153 / 9,500
Aiken: 82 / 5500
TurdFurguson: 71 / 4000

Note that Axis have superior weaponry, although Aiken is typically sluggish in sharing it with his ally: 22 for Aiken and 20 for Turd, vs 17 for the allies.

Nope, don't know anyone here in real life. Only played one game before the 12 player one I'm in at the moment, and most people dropped out. Which in turn encouraged me to come here (after seeing the game mentioned in the 'All Other Games' subforum), play with some people who are going to stick around till the end :D .

Update 5, Week 4, Years 24 to 28: On the History of the Starwhomperian Supercluster and What We Found There
Also Known as the Tale of Two Alliances, Great Expeditions, A Great Throne Lost

"What is Truth? Truth is the lie which survived the deaths of its follows. Read these lies and know that, within the Spacemesh Union, they are the ‘Truth’"

The so-called Emperor Aiken the First seemed to have lost the will to live or lead. With Half the Galaxy arrayed against him, his forces smashed or pinned again and again, and the invasion of his former ally Turd Fergeson he retreated to his palace on Altais Theta and refused to give any orders. All the Emperor’s ships and all the Emperor’s guards cannot put the situation together again as the morosely watch Turdite, Unionite and Republican forces strike at his homeland while Atikian, Krazite and Argentite forces invade the Boundless March without a single peep of an order escaping from his thinset mouth.

It yet the end, nor is it yet the beginning of the End, but it might be the end of the introduction. Like the end of this introduction: Will the Allies hold together, or will they fall apart? Will treachery reemerge after the seclusion of the Emperor, or will it be sequestered forever? I don’t have fortune-circuits, so I can’t tell.

Local News
“Spacemesh cares not for the future of the galaxy, as long as it is allowed to clease it of Aries Filth.”-Spacemesh at the Northern Alliance Coalition Organization (NACO)

For much of the beginning of the rotation, Unionite and Republican forces of Spacemesh and Daft fought off Aikenaut counter attacks. Industry and research was booming, despite the now forgotten urge to escape a military-industrial complex. Reinforcements pour into the fortress-world of Terebellum while new cyborg conscripts volunteers from the Rift Systems of Tabit and Alkalurops pour into Yed Prior. Aldebaran and Lucida were lost to an Aikenaut counterattack early in the year.

After the Eastern Front begun to open up and reinforcements armed, our forces felt more and more confident. I would know, since I see their mines, one and all. The Terranic Dreadnought Victorious, Class 16 (now 12) reconquered Aldebaran, the foothold into the Southern Aikenaut Home Sector (Aldebaran-Theemin-Askella triangle north of the Aikenaut Turd March) while Pollux Garrison and the Electra Garrison both prepare to attack. The small numbers of specialist Marines might forewarn excess casualties, but they can get the job done.

Galactic News
“I have Returned!
…
His [Aiken’s fleet] numbers are crazy though. Yikes!” – Hegemon Argentis, Upon returning from Vacation to NACO.

AIKENAUT’S BOUNDLESS MARCH CAPTURED
The various sectors of the former Boundless lands were crushed by the Eastern branch of the NACO alliance. All allies liberated half-dozen or more systems as they force the Aikenaut forces back until the Emperor himself seemed comatose. Turd forces were inbound to counterattack Argentis’ flanks… However…

TURD INVADES, POOPIST FORCES EVERYWHERE
Yes indeed. Turd, whether by the Emperor’s design or betrayal, invaded Aikenaut lands. The Native Dynasty is now bereft of allies and seems to be on the slope of decline. Already fiefdoms are appearing on what soon will be called ‘The Aikenaut Remant’.

MATT MEAT MEETS MATT EATS
The Matt of Argentis and the Matt of Turd Tyrranny, both influential members of the named factions, meet while the Turdist forces were collection. Our sources note the possibility of the name-connection causing the Turd Invasion of Aiken.

So EPIC that they have made a movie about our game!

Kerrigan = Lord Joakim
Zerg / Infested Kerrigan = Matt0088
Mensk / Dominion = Aiken (Abby)
Raynor = Daftpanzer
Guy who encourages Raynor = Terrance
Guy with deep voice = EC / merciary
Prince Valerian = Argentis
Protoss dude = Boundless

Should Zeratul be someone who's off on the side, doing something seemingly isolated from what everyone else is fighting for? Zeratul has exceedingly little to do with the Dominion. ;)

Dominion ships warping in!

@Iggy, I thought it was Zeratul but wasn't sure... Well, Boundless got invaded by Aiken early on and now exists as an occasional ghostly voice in the game, which seemed to kinda fit Zeratul :)
