Sexy maps guys! Appreciate you taking the time to piece together the full galaxy.

Purple is my favourite colour :) Goes well with the green and pink here.

The Map is going to change soon enough. Get your marking pens ready.

EDIT: Looks like Matt decided to outrange/flank your Maginot defenses. Writeup for this star cluster (and my epic attack against my enemy) is Tomarrow: Temporal Gyre is Today.

Years 1-3 ‘Week 0.5’ Update 1: A Native’s View of the Temporal Gyre
Also Known As: The Joy of Murzim, The Confusion of the Explorer, The High Price for Slugoccinos and Why You Should Buy One

“Sup! I am President Rance’s intern/secretary thing, and just so you know, de knows a lot more than de lets on! I will keep this journal during our age of expansion, and the hope that finally, we can end our overpopulation problem. In hopes that this will be published: Enjoy!”

Everyone’s economy booms. There must be some kind of law: When native civilizations finally perfect the ability to control their FTL travel to average around a light year every two years or when other galaxies send colonial ships which are reverse-engineered, there will always be an economic boom. Some say it is the pent-up demand for more resources and the liberalism of an expanding frontier, others say that people simply kept putting capital into investment banks, who settle more systems, who raise more capital so that even more people have money to invest. All that I know is that this is happening now, and I heard rumors from some extra-clusterial states that it has happened millions of times over the galaxy.

Local Events
We, of course, entered our own economic boom. So did everyone else. However, more important is our expansion.

When Rance first got elected, he put everything into upgrading the then top-of-the-line fleets with more and more, newer and newer jump engines. Then our state was a dying one, with our population eating food grown centuries ago and a government too weak to enforce control.

We had a breakthrough: our ships surged through the six pain-stakenly colonized systems and placed our staffs on a dozen more. Food production is skyrocketing with the discovering of bountiful resources. Populations is becoming ever less dense as they spread throughout our new systems.

We also signed various deals with His Majesty’s Denebolan Empire of Benefactor and the enigmatic Explorer to ensure peace. There will some miscommunication snafus here and there, but peace prevailed in the first FTL rotation of the Temporal Gyre.

Clusterial News
Economies Boom, militaries expand, colonys settled. Some do it for the fame, the money or the glory. Other are simply desperate for resources, enlightenment or space within space. Some are even from another galaxy all together! So far nothing interesting came through the Rumornet and the Tell-a-doman: This is as far as we know: The Council of Murzim extends a hand of peace and prosperity, with the strongest economy and a stable military. The Aikenauts follow closeby with a comparably economy and a decayed fleet. The Ascendency, lead by the mysterious but friendly Raku, earned much with their exorbitantly priced- but completely worth it- slugoccinos. Important technological advances are completed by the Polaris Consortium, The Esoterium, The Order of Phact, Denebolan Empire, and the Matt Empire, while The Consortium, Ascendancy, Phact, and Denebolan Empire lead the way in the neo-industrial era. Esoterium continues to be enigmatic.

Sure. I can either ally with Benefactor or Thlayli, one of whom has a Psychotic IC personality and the other a disturbingly Congenial one (My aggressive border deal was duly accepted. :p)

I love this game. Mr. Rance is an alcoholic dealmaker who likes casual circumstances.

Update 4, Week 3.5, Years 21 to 23: On the History of the Starwhomperian Supercluster and What We Found There
Also Known As: The Ravages of War, The Silence of the Lambs, The Contempt of the Emperor

"What is Truth? Truth is the lie which survived the deaths of its follows. Read these lies and know that, within the Spacemesh Union, they are the Truth"

Our crusade is the most glorious and correct one. We seek to assimilate and upload all life forms so that they all may be liberated by the petty needs of flesh. So we sought the most worthy adversary and struck at the crucial moment. May our spear hit their tendons, and may their tendons snap.

“WAR! What is it good for? Absolutely everything! Huzzah!”- After

Dissent is becoming ever common within the systems, but that was fixed with mandatory uploading of every sentient of the worlds. Now they all see what I see, the urgency of our situation.

The Southern March is conquered; Terebellum the secret to their success and the base of the Aries was cleaned by the after-flames of our spacecraft. The Rift Systems were incorporated without undue problems. Our fleets surge south in victory, dodging enemy fleets and crushing those who stand in our way.

Only two things prevent a total victory, the simple mass of our enemy which reduces what by any measure a mortal blow a bug bite, and the lethargy of our allies. I hope a few electronic connections can convince them what I have convinced trillions of my citizens to believe.

Galactic News
CAPPELLAN CITY STATE CAPTURED
Lord Joakim barely escapes the capture of Cappella by the Turds, who don’t want victory and called this war a ‘game’ which they accept ‘2nd place’. Fools. They have the ability to conquer the universe in peace, where everyone is accepted. And yet they ceded this right to the totalitarian Aiken and the Aries who supported them. Joakim, our good friend, is willing to fight to the death, but unless he destroys some of the Aries battleships, this sacrifice will destroy only the soon-lethargic Turd forces and accomplish nothing.

LETHARGIC ALLIES WORRY ADMIRALS
Our forces was but a spoiler attack to contain the redistribution of the Anti-Joakim fleet, and to capture the industrial heartland of the Southern March, known as Unionite March for the Starwhompers. Fleets numbering at or above our own are mobilizing at other areas. However, something called ‘Vacation’ seemed to bring lethargy to our allies, stalling their fleets while the Aiken menace skirts their defenses to ransack their economic centers. May they wake soon.

AIKEN BAFFLED, WANTS GAME TO END
Aiken is baffled by this ‘Betrayal’, despite throwing away all vestiges of alliance barely a few years from its conception and addressing the former Terranic Unionator as a lesser friend, not an equal ally. He wants this ‘Game to End’. There is only one way the history of the universe will end for him. His Aries magic allowed him to conquer a Lethargic Katz Burgler, surprise his own ally in Boundless, and ransack the Royal Army of Joakim. The Buck Stops here!

Great update Terrance, and very well done on your advances. Hopefully I can do as good as you have :goodjob:

EDIT: When I get back from holiday (on Thursday) I'll do a few updates for myself on both games that we have going on.

Interesting situation in Starwhomper's game. Joakim has fallen, but Aiken now fights simultaneously against 4 of 5 remaining powers, not counting his close ally Matt/Turdburger. The war of the great coalition rages on, and who knows, these thousands of new ships could make a big dent in Aiken's lines.

Thing is, Argentis (yellow) was coasting to an easy 3rd place. With everyone seeming to have a negative view of Aiken, this could be an example of how not to rub people up as you push for final domination...

Abaddon/Aiken has told me privately that he is surprised that everyone is now attacking him. I can say from my experience is that he was pushing for me to attack Terrance early in the game (who turned out to be a great ally). I guess we all get the impression that Aiken is being really manipulative behind the scenes and self-serving...

And thus does the brighter side of Neptune's Pride emerge. Ultimately, it is not the victory of the most treacherous, but the victory of the best able to aid his or her allies and create a positive impression.
