The NESer Neptune's Pride Thread!

I think I might make a sector map for the outsiders. I'll take the old Matt Map and play around with it!

EDIT: I give up. Such complexity when one tries to attach emotion to data! How about we get a new map on the eve of this new war, and we each label our own and our neighboring sectors, shall we? It will make talking about it easier, as when they wish to know where Ashlesha is EXACTLY, I'll say "The Northernmost system of teh Terranic Northern March Sector"

I feel bad for attacking Matt, but it's either that or attack my long term allies, and they've been very loyal to me. At least this has been fun (about 5 times better than my first game).

I remember on my first game I had 300 ships in one area and I was amazed at how I could get so much, and now I'm getting 2000+ fleets all the time. Same with industry - I saw 9 in one area and thought that was loads but now I'm seeing 25 for Aiken, and I have a 15, a 13 and a 12.

Who knew something so simple could be so fun?

Alright, another update then (I'm bored):

The Aikenaut capital has fallen! The remaining Aikenaut fleets ran back to their capital with their tails between their legs, but the First Marines Corps followed them all the way and fought just outside the Aikenaut capital. The marines managed to board and control many Aikenaut ships, but their lack of space-to-space fighting skills and the overwhelming Aikenaut numbers meant that they could get the upper hand and destroy the marine transports. The First Marine Corps were defeated, but destroyed many Aikenaut ships and opened the way for the Royal Fleet to move in and destroy the remaining Aikenaut ships.

Together with Hassaleh, Kaus Media and Al Niyat, Altais Theta fell to the Royal Fleet and has now come under Imperial control, sending the remaining Aikenaut government deep within the outer reaches of space, far away from the Northern Alliance and with no way possible to become a threat again. The days of Aikenaut oppression are over! The Union, UPM and Dathpathist Republic have all taken their shares of the Capital Systems, with the Empire taking the biggest share. Long Live the Empire!

The good news ends there. A new power has emerged. Whilst the Aikenauts had there backs turned, the Turd Thalassocrasy has moved in and stabbed their former allies in the back and moved in when the Aikenaut fleets were defending from the Northern advance. They have emerged as the new, dominant power in the galaxy. The Northern Alliance moved in to attack the Thalassocrasy and has made advances on all sides. The Thalassocrasy sent a fleet towards Hassaleh, Kaus Media and Al Niyat, overwhelming the small garrisons but not after suffering heavy casualties and by the end only had 5 ships remaining, and was wiped out by the Royal Fleet which then moved to take back Hassaleh, Kaus Media and Al Niyat, recording it's 20th victory, with not a single battle lost!

lololol, "Stabbed Aiken" at your request, prompting your pseudo-stab of Myself while I whittled down Aiken's Ship total by half. Its not like you can call the current "war" a even conflict, Argentis alone has a 1000 more ships than myself due to the aforementioned combat with Aiken, a total that simply cannot be overcome. I'm merely waiting for Argentis to win the game now. :p

It was propaganda for the people back home ;)

In the north, Iggy, thomas and Benefactor eat merciary alive, while Benefactor and Terrance bash Thlayli into small, disjointed fragments.

Besides, the senior citizens back on the capital planet of the Merak star system eat that propaganda up like you wouldn't believe. That being said, despite being part of a proud Northern Alliance, and thus getting delivered the newspapers from our allies, we are a proud sovereign union all on our own. :)

I was thinking, if I do start up a new private game right afterward, does anyone have any special requests for different rates of tech upgrades or the size of the game or any other details? Are we happy with how things worked this time around? I think I'll have the opportunity to fine-tune things to my liking, so any input would be great.

I liked the last game settings. Is it possible to enable alliances though?

I think so - I'm not entirely sure what that entails, though it might let you trade stars and ships instantly from what I remember reading.

What were the last game settings... huge number of stars and expensive tech, plus a little better starting cash?

Yeah. and +Range and +Speed for starting IIRC.
Also, sorry for the lack of updates... but here is one!

Years 4-12 ‘Week 2’ Update 2: A Native’s View of the Temporal Gyre
Also Known As the Downfall of the Explorer, The Alcochan Alliance, the Best Drink of Them All

“Sup! I am President Rance’s intern secretary thing, and just so you know, de knows a lot more than de lets on! I will keep this journal during our age of expansion, and the hope that finally, we can end our overpopulation problem. In hopes that this will be published: Enjoy!”

I don’t really remember what happened. We all got really drunk, played around with the fleet control system, and I woke up regained sanity wearing something I don’t remember putting on, in a bed I don’t remember sleeping on, next to President Rance, who was smiling at me while sipping a slugoccino. Then he punched me “To Rehab the Gargle Blaster” he slurred. I punched him back and he fell asleep.

I hope we didn’t do too much damage.

Local Events
“99 GARGLE-BLASTERS ON THE WALL!”-Pan-Galactic Gargle-Blaster Drinking Party hosted by President Rance

Onto the local news, the poplance loved the new systems we took from the Explorer and from various natives. And they loved reading tabloids about some affair with some Intern and with Rance. I’m probably not coherent enough to understand what I’m reading yet, but it seems that he was so popular he got reelected.

In our region, we got drunk and rehabs with a representative from Raku’s Ascendency. Then we made an ‘Pact of Alcochan’ (The common ingredient in the Gargle-blaster and the Sluggoccino) against Explorer aggression. Ben also joined in and the Northern Coalition was formed. The Explorer of Thlayli were crushed by our armed forces and splintered into many small, hors-devour style pieces while Merciary was chewed up in the north.

Clusterial News
“Do not be in fear. The universe has provided for us, because we are in JOY and PEACE. Abundance is the divine right of ALL beings. You merely have to ALLOW it.”-Murzim Broadcast
BOUNDLESS BOUNDED
Aiken once again pounded into Boundless with his fleets of steel and pierced her defenses rather quickly, exploding into her inner sanctium. As her fleets seemed to resist any attempt at resisting, the Starwhomperian Exiles from a distant galaxy crushed them.

ALCOCHAN HEGEMONY
The alliance of the greatest economic power (which lead to industrial and scientific growth) and the greatest Alcohalic Power lead to the Alcochan Hegemony. Raku is undoubtably the head of the Alcochan Alliance, with gigantic economic, industrial and scientific reserves. Ben the Factor and President Rance both lead more moderate economies, tempered as they are by the fanatic Explorer and the mystic Order of Phact. With these wars coming to an end, they are both eager for the upcoming economic explosion.

SOUTHERN HISSY FIGHT
The English Crusaders and Matt0088 seems to be fighting with simultaneous loss of ships on our almanac. We don’t have much more information. There also seemed to be an Boundless uprising in Neshmet, crushed by the English Crusaders. Their geopolitical situation means that they either have to defeat their opposite quickly, ally with the Aikenauts or the Alcochans, or with each other and invade one of the neighboring hegemonies.

Nice update Terrance :goodjob:

I think you can see their scanning, land on their stars and you can't attack them AFAIK.

All my bloody attacks fail. Iggy I don't understand why you think corner positions are so beneficial, I've had a right balls up in the most recent game AGAIN.

When you are in a corner position, you can focus all of your efforts in a single front, making you twice as strong as a person with two fronts. However, corner spots tend to have fewer expansion points. The key is to ally with the neighbour of your nearest neighbour, so that you can crush that person quickly and establish yourself as a powerful presence, while maintaining few borders.

Note the big sacrifice of EC's ships to finish off Aiken

You can also post links to the stats page so that everyone can view updating versions of every stat. :D

They don't quite resist any attempt at resisting. But yes, I have been pounded. Lolz.
