The Official "I've Got It!" Thread. Post here....

You get a soundtrack CD, a very nice spiral bound manual, tech tree poster, and a keyboard layout. Definitely pick the special edition since it's the same price.

Alright, thanks Thunder.:)

Oh, yes I got it. Never felt so happy. Let the celebration begin.

Ive had it, but Ive been doing other things and havent even played a serious session yet.

Then again, I havent played a truly serious session since Civ 2, I got Civ 3 et al but never got into it too much.

Sorry for the double post, page didnt refresh to include the new post.

Well I had it until last night when it froze during an Maceman vs Elephant battle. My only way out was to re-boot the machine and that also froze. Turning off the power got me a "STOP: Inacessable_Boot_Device" message on the reboot. So hopefully just a OS reload will solve the problem and my hard disk is ok.

I got it!
It runs perfectly on my rig (1,66 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 64 MB GeForce 4 Ti) and I have experienced no lock-ups or crashes yet (Standard size world, in the Middle Ages now).

A friend of mine, whose computer has slightly lesser specs than mine, has finished a game with a Space Race victory, which means he played almost all the way through. Don't know his world size though.

Just got my game last night and played for several hours in an absolute bliss! This game is beautiful! My laptop with ATI x600 runs the game prettily at 1680x1050 resolution.

The few things that need changing (the speed of techological development, for example) I will do as soon as I've familiarised myself with the standard rules...

i'm such an idiot! i thought this game came out 11/15/05!

here i am NOT playing the newest version of the greatest time sucking game in the history of games.

going to the store and getting it today. I've already appologized to my wife, baby, and everyone else.

I have it for a week now, have read and FINALLY understood sulla's walkthrough....

(one hint of advice... Read it BEFORE buying civ4 and AFTER playing your first game. It does make a difference)

and can proudly say...

I managed to hold on to my parents, job, girlfriend, most friends and real life and that WITHOUT changing my state religion. :D

PS. Alexander the great looks it now, in civ 3 he was a ****puke
PPS. I wonder why everyone is making a fuss about Firaxis being a take2 company now. Just look at the back of the manual. It proudly declares...

"a take2 company"

So, why bother? It was prearranged when the rights were bought out of Atari. I like it. Sid and Jeff get some well deserved cash, Firaxis future is secured, and take2 will make a LOT of money.

I've finally got it! Shipment to Canadian addresses was delayed until Nov. 4 or so AND although I ordered from Amazon.ca during the pre-release period, I only got the regular version, not the special pre-release one. (Again, us Canucks get screwed!)

Now I have another problem. Although I installed CIV ok (it DID take a good long time to do so), it wouldn't run. I have not upgraded to Windows XP (still waiting for the local computer guy to get around to it), and so I thought I'd try to see if it would run under Windows ME. It won't [sigh!] Otherwise, my system is up to or above the minimum requirments. Guess I'll just have to wiat till next week for XP.

I have got it few days.
I can play without pause.
My favorite civilisation is France, Napoleon. The play is super. I can't say it, what I feel.
Greetings!

i got it about a week ago,but havent stopped playin long enough to post until today! what a game, brings back memories of how great civnet was!in my opinion all thats missin in this version is the throne room and decent wonder movies, other than that its great.

I have it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DAMN! I dont have a DVD rom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My wife got me mine from Play.com for £17.99 inc VAT & postage. Trouble was it took 6 day instead of the normal 2 to arrive.

Only managed a few hours but enjoying it so far apart from the problem I posted earlier.

I got it too. My PC just manages to run it,but it is below spec. Time to buy a new one, wish I could afford to. :(
However if I reduce the graphics a bit it seems OK, even if there is a bit of a wait for some turns in the later game.

I've had it since 11/8 but my computer was inaccesible. I finally moved my pc to another room and played for the 1st time yesterday. I have a 2 year old Dell and was having trouble with black terrain and lines on the screen, but I turned my graphics preference down to medium and it seems to be working fine. I wasn't convinced that the game would hold my interest, but after 3 hours went away in the blink of an eye, I must say it really is terrific. So much to learn though. When Moses showed up I was clueless about what to do with him. And I have no idea what resources and improvements need to be roaded. Too bad RL will make it tough to play, but Thanksgiving day should provide me with a long session. I can't wait.
