I've only had him one time after the original India revived. I still don't know what triggers him

I've had him quite a few times in my games. If you play on Regent or lower the Mughals don't tend to do so well and India can survive for a long time. They do inevitably collapse though.

That's because independents always disband most of the armies that they get (due to unit upkeep) and leave 1 longbowman per city. An AI galley with a trebuchet and musketman is then sufficient to take it, and the AI can do that

I should also mention that this is the only game I've played so far where Spain successfully ousted the Moors from Europe... and then they promptly converted to Islam.
