The "OMG! Look what happened in DoC!" Thread

Spain should get a different leaderhead when they are Muslim IMO

A few strange moments from my Tamil game. Ignore my own bizzarities - trying to see if you could build a Tamil powerhouse in Australia. Answer: no.

Never seen France settle South America before. Enjoying the name.

I have no idea how this happened. Did the Moors invade Holland? Weird congress? I'll have to check the replay.

Maybe not the weirdest Europe but there's some pretty funky borders. Before this Poland occupied that whole Polish area territory (and were a French vassal... I think Russia conquered and France reconquered), while the Holy Romans were also a French vassal, confusingly called "Confederation of the Rhine" despite being entirely on the Danube. Also Spain was a respawn - the Moors had the whole thing (and check out that horrible city placement in the Algarve).

Perhaps due to the Spanish collapse (the Dutch also collapsed at one point) neither the Aztecs nor the Incas were conquered. Is that common? I've never seen them both escape peril.

Never seen Iran be the dominant force in the middle east (and never see Najaf either)

And finally... an enjoyable Catholic holy city (there appears to have been no Apostilic Palace)

Some interesting developments there. I've also never seen Dubai, and apparently the Seljuks don't get units up by Samarkand if there aren't any non-barb cities there apparently. Also no Athens but Sparta is still going strong.

Poti? Never seen that city before.

I play 600 AD a lot and i sometimes see the ottomans build Poti there too, even if Trabzon is there (1 north is still Poti.) I think it's either because of the nearby oil or because it's a chokepoint for the Caucasus.

Ummmmm....

So I'm Persia, playing a pretty awful game to be honest (I'm impressed I stayed alive this long... managed to hold off the Classical swathe of attacks, the Seljuks hit me hard but just as I was about to take Isfahan the Byzantines invaded Babylon with a death stack of Cataphracts... got lucky with one of those random peace events). But anyway, we're into the 16th Century and the Ottomans and the Poles declare war on each other. Next turn... collapse. Next turn... Viking collapse. Two turns later... France collapse (they'd long before conquered all of Iberia). England collapsed a short while ago too. Now it's just me and the Dutch sending cuirassiers through Europe. Slightly manic game... there's not going to be many countries left at this rate - there's only me, Netherlands, Russia, Mali, Morocco, Congo, Mughals, China, Japan, Thailand and the Aztecs left.

Is it just me (& the above) or does it seem like the current build features pretty collapse-happy AIs?

As a little update, France, Italy and Greece are now mine, Iberia is Chinese, Prussia spawned, Scandinavia turned Mughal for a while before declaring independence again. Russia, China and the Mughals (arguably the three most powerful civs along with me) are all collapsing. Mexico have gone so bar a couple of standard Dutch colonies America is wholly independent.

There was a single tile of French culture still there for some reason. It went next turn.

Meanwhile, the Mughals, Chinese and Dutch have all gone. I may have to abandon ship however as my Persia is heavily in debt (I conquered East Africa, India, South Russia and the aforementioned parts of Europe and needless to say I couldn't build banks quick enough.)

It seems the "Art of Riding Horses and Burning Down Cities" has been the most influential piece of art ever:

I honestly have no idea how the Mongols managed to beat everyone else IN CULTURE a meagre 12 turns after their spawn. And it's not like they've already conquered China and get their culture or something.
