The "OMG! Look what happened in DoC!" Thread

Kinda late.

EDIT:

Yes, even Polynesia once managed to build a classical wonder with their pagan religion!

There should probably be a general rule that expires wonders at a certain point regardless of your current technology, but I couldn't come up with a good one so far.

Nah, let these small oddities stay. By the time the Incans finish it Old World Human Player who want could have already gotten it. Is an Incan Notre Dame really any different than Borobudur being built in Milan?

Borobudur was built by Romans in Milan, meaning Buddhism reached Roman Empire and they converted.

I think he's talking about the Hanging Gardens.

Please don't take away Classical Wonders from civs like Polynesia and Incas. Civs just want to have fun ... sometimes!

I guess Indian great aqueduct shall be added to the game as a world wonder.

This was reported numerous times. Belongs more to look what happened in BTS in general.

Now... get ready for real surprise: Islam before Christianity!

what is Mazdaism and how it is different than Zoroastrianism? I guess it is supposed to represent Manichaeism but I'm not sure. and I didn't play the mod with old civs in a while, so I haven't seen the minor religions before.

Polytheistic Mazdaism was the precursor of radically dualistic Zoroastrianism. This has a very interesting reading on the subject. Manicheism came much later and was different, while related...

All civs now have an "unique" pagan religion, which replaces the old "no state religion". Mazdaism is the pagan religion of Persia.
Right, the best way to think about it is just having a special name and icon for the "no state religion" option.

So i start a Marathon game as Holy Rome, preparing a crusade to Jerusalem (Rome was already taken... without the Shrine :mad::mad::mad:) and...

The Vikings captured Byzantium.

The more i think about how they even reached here the more it breaks me. And the fact that the Vikings has a UNIQUE name for Constantinople makes this even crazier. Things you only get on 3000BC start, folks!

Hm, I guess the Varangian Guard took a more pro-active approach to defending the emperor in that world.

Hell yeah Miklagard!

I loaded a Marathon Turkish start once to find that the Vikings were keeping a stack in Miklagard

You need to take a screenshots when it happens. Given the role that Varangian Guards were playing in Byzantine wars it is not inconceivable for them to get hold of The Great City!
