or both. goodie hut got him a medieval tech, one the player couldn't research, then he built the oracle.

Far more likely he just teched Priesthood and Writing, Oracle got him Monarchy, then goodie hut got him Feudalism. Hard to see how Babylon could tech to reach a different medieval tech without Maths, Alphabet or Bronze Working.

Them getting one city in a weird place is different, and conquering the entire north coast of Africa is different!

I was quite impressed to see them gradually eating up all of the N. African coast right to Marrakesh. Almost made me sad to smash them to a pulp and watch their mighty empire collapse. Almost... :)

Not so much 'omg' since Great People are named after their respective civs but the location is pretty good and substitute the Persians with the Romans and you've got everything set!
 
^ More often than not when I play Greece, Socrates (born in Athens, of course) is used to bulb Philosophy to ensure a fast UHV.
