Early discoveries of America are pretty normal, though Byzantium coming the long way through the Pacific in 1141 certainly impressed me.

Another hint at how well Byzantium’s doing: they’re called the “Roman Empire,” which means their Gothic War went well![]()
Can you upload a save of this state? The name should not be Despotate of the Morea at this point.Actually I got a save where the AI Byzantium conquered Italy (they will do soon on this screenshot). They even found a city 2 tiles from Paris! But the French flipped it then and renamed it to Strassbourg... The funny part: Byzantium name is Despotate of Morea (which was a province in Peloponnese), despite having 10 cities. I think they were down to 4 cities at some point, when they got this name.

IDK, in their screenshot their Capital is Athinai, and in every game I played the Byzantines are known as the DotM if their capital is in Athinai. Then again, that may just be confirmation bias and a lack of experience speaking...Can you upload a save of this state? The name should not be Despotate of the Morea at this point.

Very cool picture and interesting city placement. I usually settle capital in place and never erase city on stone.
Hide that last picture or else Leo will require wheat to build Great Library![]()
But, seriously, last time I built a capital outside of my core I simply collapsed. Let's see how this one will end.
And maybe this is the first time that I see crusader states in PersiaWhat's up with all those French, Holy Roman and Spanish cities in Middle East/Central Asia! Did somebody discover bunch of Indy cities free to grab, passed the news to Europe, and somehow Spanish made all the way from Iberia to capture Persepolis .. and Merv? I never roll games like this!

Independent Great Merchant casually approaching my capital.
South Africa is a good place to expand into. It doesn't flip to any spawning civs and has some juicy resources you lack as a European/Mediteranean civ. Also Greece has a large and populous enough Core area for you to go big without collapsing from overextension stability.
