There are too many polls about politics on OT right now, so why not a nice poll about something people never argue about (:mischief:) - phones?

What type of phone do you use? Old-school rotary or new-school buttonless? Are you happy with it? Is is expensive? Is your phone decades old?

Multiple-choice poll coming right up!

Cell phone only. Pretty old (7 years?), still works though.

Don't know when my cellphone came out, but I've had it for three years now (and only because I left my previous one on the train once, and that was like four years old at that point). Oh, and it's got a prepaid card. No camera or other unnecessary gimmicks.

I have no cell phone. :D

I have an Obama Phone.

:D :p

Cell phone only for me. I have a Galaxy S I. It's starting to do random stuff and break down.:(

I just noticed the option that fits me, so my answer is push-button wall/table phone.

Cell: Blackberry Style / flip / full keyboard / almost 2 years (but model IS 2+ so that's how I voted)
Home: DECT 6 Panasonic cordless

For home phone users:
Do you think you'll ever give it up all together?
Do you still find it usefull and why?

I won't get one, my reasoning is that though it's nice to not worry about minutes for local calls, when someone calls the house phone, they only want to talk to either me or my wife. Not having a home phone is kind of like cutting out the middle man, they can call us direct. I haven't found a good reason to get one.

I have a Sony Ericsson flip phone. It's a piece of crap that turns itself off randomly.

Time for a new one? When they start doing that they usually don't have much life left.

Anybody know why cell phones do that anyways? It's so weird and common.

I have a Blackberry. I got it online from some random website and put my own Simcard in it. It's about a year and a half old now, but still works fine after being dropped countless times. It has a full Qwerty keyboard on the phone, so I can text flawlessly without having to look. I have unlimited text and no data. It's supposed to have wifi, but it never works. No camera either. It's not super nice, but it works for what I need. I also still have a landline in my house.

Why did they even come up with rotary-phone anyway? Were small buttons impossible in those times?

iPhone 4. It works very well, but my dorm has terrible reception so whenever I get a call I have to go outside to answer it.

Blackberry. Incredibly unstylish but it's functional and does it's jobs very well.
I love the keyboard, feels so much better then a touch screen. I just wish it had a better camera.

Rotary phones use pulse dialing, which was invented first in the 1890's. Keypad phones use dual tone multi-frequency dialing, wich wasn't invented until the 60's.

Don't ask my what the difference is or what it means. All I know is that some phone networks no longer recognize rotary phone dialing.

I got a BlackBerry. One year and a half old. And it isn't worth a damn thing.

I have a very basic mobile phone. I only have a landline to support my TIVO, though I hook up my rotary phone if I want to make a calll from my landline.

No landline.

4 year old Nokia. Got used to getting around a nokia's functions years ago and couldn't be bothered learning new tricks. But I'm really noticing how disadvantaged I am in business not having e mail and Internet access at all times so I'm contemplating making a change
