Time for a new one? When they start doing that they usually don't have much life left.
Anybody know why cell phones do that anyways? It's so weird and common.
I think it's called "planned obsolescence."
I just have a landline. It's a basic thing that sits on the kitchen counter, anchored to the wall by a cord. I still carry coins in my purse for when I need to use a pay phone elsewhere (that's getting harder to do, since pay phones have become an endangered species).
I've been considering getting a cell phone, but my brain glazes over when I try to research what sort of gizmo might be best for me. Maybe when I find one that also does the dishes and cleans the litter box, as well as everything else phones do (besides letting you talk to people)...
I've had this current phone for just a year - had to replace the old one that finally died after 10-12 years of faithful service. And talk about hard to find a basic landline phone... the clerk at the store seemed to not be able to understand what I was talking about, when I said I wanted a landline that was not hooked to the internet, didn't have a camera, couldn't be typed on, or that needed to be charged so I could wander all over with it. I just wanted something that would sit as quietly as possible until I needed to use it and otherwise not bother me (and be inexpensive).
I called BS when she said she didn't think things like that were made anymore (or that WAL-MART didn't carry them!).

So we wandered all around the phone department and I finally yelled at her when I found what I wanted: "SEE, THERE'S WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR!!!"
Damn, I hate clerks who try to tell you crap just so they can try to make you buy pricier stuff you don't need.
