The prefix for cooperative games - final poll

Which prefix would you prefer for interactive story threads like realpolitik?

  • Total voters
    39
  • Poll closed .
RealPolitik refers to a specific game type though. That would not include most games.

I vote RP, but as the formal acronym for "RealPolitik," NOT "Role Play," which is too general.

Except, whoops, IAAR is general and encompasses everything unlike RP, which encompasses only one subset of AARs.

Interesting what the results are if the Civ4 S&Ters are removed...

I'm sorry. I'm afraid I didn't catch the part in the OP that says "if you post anywhere else on the board, your votes are excluded".

Now what ever gave you the idea that I want you guys to be excluded? It's just my somewhat over-analyzing brain doing what it usually does. The only reason that you might think I want you guys excluded is because I didn't like it when the last poll was flooded by Civ4 S&Ters who never post on the Civ5 forums. If someone posts in both forums, I don't have a problem with them preferring IAAR over RP. But if someone votes simply because another poster told them to, then I have an issue with it.

And I don't want to clutter the thread, so if you want to respond, do it in a PM or VM.

Most Civ4S&Ters play Realpolitik. Besides, Civ4 S&T and Civ5 S&LP are very closely related. RolePlay will spread like a viris. What if the mods introduce a [tag] system on Civ4 S&T to? Then the stupid RolePlay name will take over. We CANNOT allow this to happen. That is why the Civ4 S&Ters are voting.

EDIT: On that subject, how many people who voted for RP regularly play IARRs? Only half. The rest are people I have never heard of or LPers.

Wow, paranoid much?

The Civ4 mods already gave you 3 functional prefixes, I don't see them forcing anything else on you.

It's just that 99% of people who play IAARs have agreed that IAARs should be called IAARs. I don't want the name changed by people who don't play them that much. It would be like if the Civ4 Stories and Tale people started to demand that Civ4 Strategy and Tips be called Civ4 Ham and Tomato Sandwich Talkshop. That's how I see it.

An interesting fact, RP has more people who have never posted in the forum. I only see one person from Civ4 S&T that has never played in a Civ V IAAR/RP in the list for IAAR though. Perhaps before you start demonizing us you can look at the facts next time.

(I have had far to much of Civ III S&T people anyway! [loljks])

I seriously doubt they will, and I'd side with you guys on not having additional tags. Civ4 has all the expansion tags that are used. Why would they add more tags that would have to have subtags of some form along the lines of [Vanilla-Story] or [BTS-RP]? It would be idiotic.

99% of all statistics on the internet are made up on the spot. :D

I found this funny because there are a ton of people who play RP/IAARs on the Civ5 forums that don't even own, much less play, Civilization 5.

 I don't think it's like that. Mmmm...tomatoes. :mischief:

Ah, but how many are planning to join one in the future? Honestly, I'm just glad that we haven't seen the sudden and "unexplained" influx of votes from the Civ4 community like on the last poll.

Correction. Civ3 S&T person. I don't see too many other Civ3 regulars around here, ever.

You are in no position to argue that, 2 of your votes currently are from people who have never posted before.
I am quite willing to support everyone who has never posted in Civ V S&LP to have there vote not counted if you want though.

And if they plan to join a game (or to post in general), then I'm sure your campaign to have their votes disqualified will encourage them to do so. And I never said that your votes shouldn't be counted, so stop acting as if I did.

Sorry if I was overly harsh, I just want to make sure that if IAAR wins that it is not seen as due to Civ IV meddling in things.
I of course have no interest in discounting any votes.

Hey, no worries. The last poll had issues with the meddling whereas this one doesn't really have as big of an issue with it. This poll will definitely be close as the current separation is just three votes in favor of IAAR.

You know, I'm beginning to think [Interactive] would do the job just as well.

Hah, yeah. It just seems like the main complaint about IAAR is that it's not easy to understand if you're new. OTOH, "Interactive" does the same job as "IAAR", but is easier to 'get'.

But it is a bit late to argue for that, so my vote obviously stays where it is.
