How does one get a specific dream when they go to sleep? Does thinking about a particular subject, object, or event when you go to bed/sleep make you more likely to dream about it?

Possibly, though some dreams come out of NOWHERE, so logically there doesn't have to be a connection...

I do know if one thinks about lucid dreaming before sleeping, however, your chances of lucid dreaming are much higher.

there was a study that if you eat a certain type of cheese 30 mins before bed it influences your dreams, including one type of cheese that caused no dreams at all.

I don't have alink but try google. Hint: it was in the UK! :)

Question: I have a theory about the origin of the hillbilly "dad gummit"

I believe it is a contraction of a contraction of "darned government"

here's the trail: Darned Government --> Dar'd gubmint --> dad gummit

confirm?

According to some sources, when the sun dies, it will expand either to 100 to 250 times its original size. My question is, why so big?

That's what she said

I don't know what the size is, I just remember it being said it'll expand to about Jupiter, then that outer less dense layer will be blasted away leaving a white dwarf. It's because the fuel is running out, and somehow that lessens the gravity or soemthing.

F = G(m1m2)/r^2

When fuel gets burned, mass decreases. Thus gravitational force also decreases by necessity.

QED.

I don't think the loss of mass from fusion is enough to make much of a difference. The reason was supposed to be some kind of relationship to the switching from fusing hydrogens into Heliums to combining those into bigger atoms, making it expand or get less hot or something.

Like fission, the energy released in fusion is mass, creating a net decrease. And while the difference is very small, there are a lot of such reactions.

Not saying whether LightFang or Ulyaoth is right, as I don't know, though.

Is there any practical purpose for not wearing a Beret?
