The Sword of Islam (PLUS) Edition

As far as I know, you *might* need the original (and latest version of) SoI.

The first post indicates that the original won't be needed in version 0.03 (or something) but this is still a WIP / Work In Progress.

IIRC it's based on older version of SoI but it only needs the GUI, or you can manually edit the path in Resource/Civ4.thm file to point to the modmod's folder so that it no longer links to SoI and works standalone.

Thanks dude! i am currently downloading the vanilla SoI but if you explain to me how i can make it work standalone i'd appreciate.

Open Civ4.thm (located in the mod's Resource folder) in notepad, and change the path there from Sword of Islam to Sword of Islam (PLUS) Edition

Hi everyone, sorry for the delay, for the past couple months I've been in the process of moving all my worldly belongings to Canada, and therefore have had little time to mod, and in recent days little time to even check the interent :/

Once I get my civ 4 laptop up and running (as in finding it a permanent place), then I will update this mod to the most recent version of SoI.

Thank You! :)

????

I assume you do not have the actual Sword of Islam mod installed. You can get it here. This thread is for SoI "Plus", the Turk's modmodmod of SoI, which at this point requires the main mod to run. I'd really recommend to try the original mod first, especially since this modmodmod is not up to date at this moment.

It's The Turk's modmod, maybe you try to contact him directly (via PM, for example).

Is this mod dead? I hope not because there's very good ideas to improve Embryodead's amazing mod.

I'm sorry, I wrote my entire plan here a while ago, I thought it posted... the case of the disappearing wallpost

Anyway, to reiterate what I had written earlier, this mod is not dead, as much on hiatus, as I have been extremely busy as of late, with school and moving to a new country. I will resume work either during Winter vacation or one of these weekends, when I'll try to find the time to update this mod, to Edead's latest version of SoI.

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to say, that the progress on this modmod have begun once again. I am currently updating this mod, with the hopes of releasing a clean and updated version soon, with most of the features of 0.3!

Hi Everyone,

I decided to split v0.3 into two parts (v0.31 and v0.32). I have released v0.31, which can be downloaded here.

It is updated to the latest Sword of Islam and will work independent of Embryodead's mod.

Here is a list of changes included in v0.31:
Spoiler :
v.031
- Added in "True Cross" unit and event for Kingdom of Jerusalem
- Added Introduction Movie
- Redirected the Civ4.thm file to "The Sword of Islam (PLUS) Edition" -- Now you can play without having Embyrodead's SoI
- Changed the dimensions of the Dawn of Man screen, to allow bigger texts
- Added the city of al-Qattai (old Cairo)
- Added Judaism to Rodos
- Added Rhodes to Sultanate of Rum Border Province
- Added Kashgar to 750 AD start
- Aleppo respawns before Crusades if already razed
- Added stone near Samarra
- Only Hindu state religion civilizations can research "Caste System" technology
- Tried to reduce the chance of Edessa being razed on Principality of Antioch spawn
- Changed Basil II Leaderhead, and changed the current one to be Alexios I
- Increased Abbasid stability hit on Kingdom of Jerusalem spawn
- Zengids our now vassals of the Seljuks when they spawn [To be further tested]

Hope everyone enjoys, and please leave feedback/remarks :goodjob:

I would just like to say welcome to Canada! We (the proud Canadians of this forum) hope you like it here and that everything works out..

Thank you Barratt! Yes, I do like Canada, everyone is nice, sophisticated and accepting. Although it does get colder here than in Turkey ;)
But so far so good, the cold weather, you can get used to!

Also, I'm making great strides in the next version, I just need to finally get the second Byzantine and Portuguese LH to spawn properly in the game, and I want to add a couple more barb invasions (which aren't too hard to code), so hopefully I'll have the next version out in a couple weeks or so (depending on outside work)

Hope everyone is enjoying!

Turk, can you tinker with my first review in SoI main forum? (the Abbasid thing) :)
And also.
Extending the game to more than 1700AD?
Bring British Raj in game and see how Islamic Indian empire fight again Anglicism, Hinduism and Sikhism at once :)

And just announcing that I might move to Canada too on next June ;)

I do have plans to add in the British, but keep the timeframe at 1700. Historically they allied themselves with the Safavids to fight off the Portuguese in the late 17th century, and captured Diu, a city I plan to also add.

And I will also be adding Sikhism (I already have all the art I need), so just give me time to implement it, as it just takes some time to add in a religion, as I've never done it before

Yay Canada! :)

Well, I heard that tuition fee there is much cheaper than USA :)
And people are more generous for Scholarship..
And I heard Bio-medical Science there is also good :)

Wait. Unless you expand your time frame to exceed 1700AD, I recommend you don't add any British thing.. It'll screw everything edead create in Indian realm.. And it'll make India suffer faster than it should..

But if you are extending to 1800s.. or even 1900s..
You can simulate how magnificent India was while suddenly Portuguese, British and French came in and destroy everything with their trading companies..

And this thing, IMO, will also help to differ your + with edead's original too..

The reason why I won't increase it to the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries is because, during these period of time, there were only 2 empires in the Middle East, the Ottomans and Safavids (and later Qajars), and of course the Mughals, and one or two other Central Asian states. Altogether it really wouldn't be worth it, and frankly it would probably be kind of boring.

Why would adding the British in the late game, mess up everything? So far it seems the Portuguese have a very hegemonic place in the game, and by adding some diversity, such as adding an enemy of the Portuguese, namely the British into the arena, you bring about some interesting changes. Anyway my two goals right now are creating a Proto-Fatimid Egypt and adding Sikhism religion and Jainism event.

Okay. never mind on this one~

Because I was unable to find a source that state British was there before 1700..
Just right now I found British at 1608 so well it might be good enough to implement then..

How about Kanem-bornu, Chalukya, Maratha?
