I already know that the right wing has a higher percentage of attractive ladies than the left, but are there any actual numbers? And for the left wing, what percentage of their ladies might be attractive? Surely not all liberal female politicans are unappealing like Pelosi and/or Clinton. :p

Off the top of my head, the only remotely decent-looking liberal politician I can think of is one of the Senators from my state, Amy Klobuchar. :dunno:

If you want to go with gross generalizations: Go meet your nice, pretty, conservative women by going to church. If there aren't any at the services you attend, make friends with the women who are there. They have sisters, daughters, nieces, yadda yadda.

Im not in the mood for passive-agressive personal insults. Bugger off.

So a question to alienate me to all regular users, why do so many polls mention downtown?

A better question might be, why don't all polls mention downtown?

He's kind of a big deal around here.

(slightly more serious answer, it's just a tradition. not sure how it started. kinda like the radioactive monkey / giant death robot options before it.)

I know how it started. Downtown started it. He was making tons of polls back in the day and was always including some half parody, half self promoting option down at the bottom. Things were more tribal here on CFC cuz the pre-Tea Partyesque crowd was in full force from 2005-2009 before they started filtering out. We were the smug young kids who thought it was cool to play along. Now there's new young kids but they are too lazy to make their own tradition.

Not for the lack of trying?

Why is the 'official uniform' for snowboarders some hipster/slacker/hoodie thing?

Because that's the kind of warm outfits people wear outdoors in the cold? They're not in alpine events where they need to be streamlined for speed.

They wear regular racing outfits for races:

And it's not a snowboarding exclusive thing:

I got up at 2 in the morning and have been awake for the past hour-and-a-half. It hurts like hell, but I can't get back to sleep, even though I fell asleep at 9. Help! I don't want to go through the whole day keeping myself awake.

If when you do get sleepy, don't keep yourself awake. Take an hour nap and then get up again. If you are unable to take such a nap, then your experiences are dictating your life, as opposed to you dictating your experiences. It will hurt like hell as long as that is the case.

I'll wake up six to seven hours later. How can it be otherwise? I can't consciously wake myself.

Anyway, I'm not feeling that tired after all.

An alarm clock, or another suitable device, can generally be used to pre-consciously wake you. (As it were - in the sense that you set it consciously, for use at a time when you'll be less conscious.)

I think they say the optimal time for a nap is something less than 40 minutes. Otherwise you risk entering a deep sleep. And possibly further disrupting your sleep pattern.

I think your body knows its the middle of the day, and won't enter deep sleep unless you're seriously sleep deprived/that's your schedule.

IIRC its completely natural to nap during the middle of the day, and to wake up in the middle of the night. It's called segmented sleep, supposed to be our natural way of doing it.

Sleeping in one full bloc and staying awake in one full bloc is a very recent (like 19th century) innovation.

I took my first nap in almost two weeks earlier today...

After being hospitalized I tend to wake early now. In the hospital you're waken up often during the night for various reasons.

My roommate is very drunk and seems pretty insistent on sleeping on the bathroom floor. I feel like I should try to help him to bed regardless though. At one point does my obligation to do so end?

If somebody could answer this one like ten minutes ago, that'd be great, because I've already given up, but I feel guilty.

Also, if somebody gets sleep-on-the-bathroom-floor drunk on a Wednesday when both they and their roommate have an 8AM on Thursdays, is it fair to say you should probably confront them about their drinking? He's gotten drunk on weeknights before, but this would appear to be a new low.

Nah! I wouldn't bother. Certainly don't feel guilty about someone getting drunk and lying on the bathroom floor. It's what drunk people do and probably the best place for them.

I wouldn't bother about confronting them either. Save your time and effort for more worthwhile projects.

Not that I'm suggesting that it's wrong to be concerned, though. Just that nothing you do is likely to have any effect, and you risk coming across as self-righteous and high and mighty and all that.

Self-destructive behaviour is self-destructive.

It's probably a sign of a misspent youth that I consider sleeping on your own bathroom floor to be the end of a rather restrained evening's carousing.

My entire town seems to have shut down because of the snowfall. If society screeched to a halt every time it snowed, Finland would be about as prosperous as Antarctica. Why can't they deal with it? Why is every store except for Wallmart closed?
