Texas Hold'em is boring. Play real poker instead.

Sometimes she has a headache. And Texas boys are always up for a bear hug.

So that's why you're always on about the right to bear arms! The Second Amendment is actually abotu women's rights! of course, ortographic standards have changed, it was bear arms in lowercase and it meant the right for men to be manly! I knew there had to be a linguistic approach to the 2nd Amdendment issue!

not if you exploit inefficiencies; a zero sum game for a population doesn't have to be a zero sum game for individuals

I agree. But this is the gamblers fallacy isn't it? All gamblers think they're smarter than other gamblers. This simply can't be true for all of them.

I'm not sure what you mean by exploiting inefficiencies, though.

I think he means exploiting the fact that not everybody wins.

Well. Perhaps.

Surely there's more to it than that. In zero sum games, by definition, not everybody can win.

gambler's fallacy is the mistaken belief that, say, if a coin comes up heads five times in a row, it's more likely to land tails the next flip.

gamblers thinking that they are smarter than other gamblers is just classic dunning kruger behavior.

by 'exploiting inefficiencies' as they are superior methods to playing certain casino games, especially card games, whether in the absolute or relative to other methods.

Yep. You're right about the gambler's fallacy and dunning kruger. My mistake.

What do you mean by superior in the absolute sense? Superior compared to what, then?

If one has hemorrhoids and happens to eat a bad sandwich that might have parasites, would that pose an issue?

I think that would pose an issue regardless of the hemorrhoids situation. But... medical question, so really should probably not ask for advice about it here. Probably a physician would be a better choice. ;)

Can someone explain how a search for books on "stealth technology" would return this?

The NSA has infiltrated your PC, and they're manipulating your research results into subtle warning that they'll tell your mother about what you're searching for.

Now, if you looked for something like 'pressure-cooker bombs', they won't bother with that - they'll just send a SWAT squad and deal with you.

Are you kidding? My mom somehow knew about -everything- I ever did in school and whatnot. The only plausible explanation I have is cloaking technology or something. I'd get home and she'd be like "well what do you have to say about that incident in the McDonald's parking lot, mister?"

Mothers (and wives, so I've heard) tend to have these strange, impossible, supernatural-like powers to know the what, when, where, and how about stuff you do if it's supposed to be a bad thing.

It's called gossip. Also, as stated in that great show called VCPR's Pressing Issues, moms know everything.

Gossip? No, no, the powers that mothers (and some wives) have goes beyond mere earthly, mortal powers.

This is more akin to, say, the city guards in Oblivion, who start chasing you down the moment you accidentally pick up someone's apple.

"Don't chatter. Gossiping borders on treason."

When people rate attractiveness on a 1-10 scale, is that assumed to be bell curved or just straight percentiles? Because obviously that makes a big difference at the 1-3 and 8-10 end of the scale, but even for the 4-7 middlers the distinction could knock it a point one way or the other.
