I'm curious about what convoy duty is like if it's on a US highway. I'm doing research for a story and I'm curious about a lot of the intricacies. Who does the convoy commander report to and how often do they check in along the journey? Why do they do it? What are the procedures? Can the convoy commander relax a little while they're on the road? Obviously not in a place like Iraq but perhaps in the Continental 48?

It is either a military exercise and thus top secret; or it is a waste of gas to get troops from point A to point B while preparing them for long boring rides (at least in the US). I have even seen the whole line stopped along the highway, to fix one flat tire. I am sure they have a point for doing what they do. Mostly though, it is a training exercise.

As someone who's been here since around then as well, I can also confirm this statement.


I do have a nagging feeling there's been one or two topics that have had even more threads per page strictly speaking, but I can't seem to remember them.

As a new person to this section of the forum, I was honestly surprised at the sheer volume of them. I am probably going to go rant a bit on one or two of them on why Everyone is an idiot, and how peace can be achieved through some stupid ideological not going to happen solution, then just ignore them all together.
Oh and quick question- why does Marvel keep on trying to inject diversity forcefully, especially considering that the Scarlet Witch is already a woman and they've already got an African American with Luke Cage? Are they really that desperate? Do they have some kind of formula on how much cash this little stunt with Thor and Captain America will earn them?

I hope Marvel systematically “ruins” absolutely every one of their legacy characters forever, one after another, and then D.C. runs a Sgt. Rock miniseries where he renounces violence as a means of conflict resolution. May the grousing of the macho comics dudes ascend to Heaven forever and make an acceptable sacrifice unto Galactus.

The assumption that superheroes are supposed to be straight white men is dumb, and the assumption that superheroes appearing as anything other than straight white men can only be an exception or a marketing gimmick is even dumber, so we should be glad if people who hold to these assumptions feel alienated by Marvel's recent changes, because it proves things are moving in the right direction.

Plus, Scarlet Witch is half-Jewish, half-Romani, so the terrifying march of racial and cultural diversity began before it was reflected in the skin-tone of the A-listers.

To a large extent I think it's a matter of them having done so many things over the years, that just to have any creative energy at all, they have to do some new things. But then broadening the demographic appeal is a factor as well.
