Earlier while I was out, I ended up trapped in a bathroom stall because the door got jammed shut. My mother was able to pull it open, but in the future what should I do?
i dunno about Canada but down here you could crawl out from under.
That'd be difficult for somebody with Parkinson's disease. :undecide:

The problem is that too many people have plans that are currently better than the average and since their companies are picking up a good chunk it isn't economically crushing to them. They have no incentive or desire to convert over to a system that might limit some of the options.
It's going to be hard to change things as long as this is the norm.

About half will be better than average.

How good does a photo need to be to identify the person?

I saw this site, which is interesting but from the point of view od "what camera should I buy", but I am interested in if I will be recognisable by a computer in our group photo, or do I need to hide behind someone.

If you're still in the UK then your best bet is to wear a hood and a balaclava at all times.

It's more about the photo than the camera. A common modern digital camera is taking pics that are 1000s of pixels across the long axis. If it's a single person in the photo, that's more than enough resolution to see individual pores and hairs.

Any Deutsch speakers willing to translate? It's tedious to type it out one letter at a time, plus my keyboard is missing letters.

If you are not going to buy or acquire a new key board (or keys) why not move some of the little used keys .

I'm not a native reader, but I'll have a go (aided and abetted by GoogleTranslate, partly edited to roughly equivalent English phrasing):

With this letter, we would like to bring to your attention once again, that under the new D. P. Law, you are required to swear an oath, that you can and will carry out the work agreed in your contract, and that you will travel to the place described in your contract.

We remind you that your contract has the following details:

Your E. C. number is: 218556 USNA/C
Your Sponsor (who has given you this contract) is: Jewish Federation...
You will travel to: Chicago, Illinois
Your job is: shipping clerk

Sincerely,

Gladys Roth
I don't know what the 'D. P. Law' is about ('Displaced Persons' would work in English, but that's probably not what it meant in German), nor what an 'E. C. number' is ('Emigration/Employment Contract'?). But it sounds like this guy might have missed his official oath-taking appointment?

Without the Google Translate, I think that was an OK translation. German classes won't resume until April so I won't be able to ask until then.

I动态know问哈替弟弟不太满意keyboard Chinese how do i fix this?

The tranlation is correct, and well done.
I sort of halted at the "once again" because that sounds way more passive aggressive in English.
The "noch einmal" in German sounds more like, "Oh this is just some thing we tell you seven times, pro forma, because we enjoy telling things to people seven times, pro forma, no matter what. Cus bureaucrazy.").
I have no alternative translation to offer, though.

The background of the whole thing is the Displaced Persons Act.
They are translating "act" into djerman because back then people were generally barbarians with language like that.
The numbered EC might just be employment contract.

Somewhere in Windows' Control Panel there is a section for shortcuts and weird key combinations. You might have to disable the ‘you're an idiot so we won't let you do what you want with your computer/security’ protections.

Would it be legal in the United States to restrict people from residing somewhere based on their religion or morality? If not, would it become possible if you owned that property (for instance, would a billionaire be able to set up his own Christian-only community where people are held to puritan standards as a condition of living there)?

De facto yes, de iure no.

If you want to start your own weirdo compound it's very much feasible, even if it's probably a very expensive endeavour.

For the latter question, that will depend on the county's zoning and parcel laws. No overarching law against it, though.

Why does it have to be? I imagine feudalism would be at least somewhat profitable.

This would really depend on state- and lower-level legislation, but I presume that if you make it a contractual relationship you get all those consumer anti-discrimination rules that already meant, back in the day, that it was illegal for one Donald J. Trump to refuse to allow black tenants into his properties.

The guy who founded pizza hut set up his own private Catholic city but had it curtailed by the courts.

The Schwartz was evidently not with him.

Equal Housing Opportunity would prohibit religious discrimination, I'm 97% sure. Moral codes can probably be done because HOAs are gods unto themselves.
