The Very-Many-Questions-Not-Worth-Their-Own-Thread Thread XLIII

You'd need a friend willing to go as a toilet in order to complete the concept.

We were fire hydrant last year. Should have dressed up as a dog.

Taking your shoes off at the office: Yay or nay?

Personally I don’t give a fudge, my shoes hurt sometimes, I’m taking them off!

I had a work friend who used to have a pair of slippers she kept in the office and wore at her desk, which was a smart move because that office was freezing.

It depends on the office, and I would talk to my co workers first, but there is nothing inherently wrong with it.

At my last job loads of women would keep a flat pair of shoes for going into the lab. Some of them bordered on slippers.

^This. Depending on where I'm going to I bring my own slippers.

I know why the Fatima Mansions (the band) are named the Fatima Mansions (they're named after the Fatima Mansions (the housing complex)) but why is Fatima Mansions (the housing complex) named the Fatima Mansions?

They being Irish and all I suspect that they're named after the Virgin Mary in her Fatima iteration.

It was a public housing project. At the time it opened [1940s] public buildings in Ireland or similar were often given religious [Catholic] inspired names. The original wards in my local hospital which was built about the same time are named after saints.

The constitution of the Free State in force at the time said 'the state could not "endow" any religion' but in practice it was a Catholic state.
The constitution of the Republic that came into force at the end of the 40s explicitly recognised 'the special position' of Catholicism.

Is there anyway I can tell Google I'm not interested in these stupid ads? There's an option for that with the articles that pop up in the feed, but I can't find one for ads

Well, if you're using Google's own apps then it's on you. :undecide:

I was referring to the ads that pop up on Google Feed on mobile. I can't block those, so I was hoping there was a way I could at least make sure I don't get ads for feet and pole dancing

You must have an interesting browsing history, if that's what they think you're interested in! :p
