To help all of you (and me) keep track I've decided to make a character list of all the named characters in the Brotherhood of the Undead so far.
The Director: Where did he come from? Why does he call himself the Director? What are the screams coming from the lab? These are questions the Brotherhood do not have an answer to, and would very much like not to have an answer to. At six feet tall, gaunt and gangly like a scarecrow, the Director strikes an intimidating figure in his lab coat. The scariest part of him though, are the eyes, which settle on his face like googly eyes.
He came to the Brotherhood in the early years, offering his services as a doctor in exchange for being allowed to perform experiments in the working clinic that was a part of the Brotherhood hideout.
The Assistant: The Director can’t perform all of his experiments himself so he has his assistant who has been desensitized to suffering to help him. A bookish looking young ghoul, he has glasses and a generally wimpy demeanor. The Hardy Boys have given him wedgies 249 times and counting.
Big Mama: The founder of the Brotherhood, and its energetic aggressive leader. She keeps command of her gang through extreme violence and extreme affection, garnering both intense fear and fanatical loyalty, much like an abusive father would. She is the heart and soul of the Brotherhood, the glue that binds this disparate group of personalities together.
She stands inhumanly tall, like a giantess above men, and her bulky frame radiates pure power. She can rip through sheet metal, bones and muscles like paper.
Big Mama is violent, unable to admit fault and probably insane, which makes her an anime girl
Deimos and Phobos: Their parents were “intellectuals” and named them after the twin sons of Mars in the greek myths. This was an ironic naming convention, given that both Deimos and Phobos grew up to be utter cowards. Their instinct for bootlicking is paralleled, and if they had grown up before the bombs fell, they would’ve found their way to the New York Times. Instead, they spend their days as Big Mama’s personal secretaries, helping her organize the Brotherhood, and taking the brunt of her wrath when things go wrong, or when one of them contradicts one of her plans.
Queek: Every village has a village idiot, and Queek, unfortunately plays that role for the Brotherhood, already a group of not too bright individuals. It is widely agreed that something supernatural must be watching out for him for him to have survived to adulthood. He acts as a messenger throughout the Brotherhood because he can’t be trusted with anything else.
The Hardy Boys: Their mama god bless her soul, managed to pop out ten kids before she died, leaving their dad, and the Brotherhood at large to raise them, and the Hardy Boys were the result. Violent barely controlled devils, they spend their days doing stupid things like slamming their heads against walls and inflicting damage on themselves, each other and other people. They can’t be managed, their violent urges can only be productively directed. They also own the only 2 handed guns of the Brotherhood, having earned it through the Laws of Loot which govern how spoils are split and are the only laws which even Big Mama respects.
Boss: Once the leader of one of the smaller raider factions that coelesced under the Brotherhood's banner he's the closest thing the Brotherhood has to a tactician. Of course, in an organization with plans like "Show up in greater numbers and shoot them until they're dead" this is not a hard title to claim. His greatest victory was the taking of Trinity which was a combination of luck, properly applied concentration of firepower, opportunism and verve. He also had a hand in the planning of the taking of the trader's food. Currently he overseas the Brotherhood outpost at Trinity.
