I kind of want to try it for my IBS and depression.
I know I already have a track record of doing inadvisable DIY things, but I kind of want to find a thin person with good mental, intestinal, etc. health who might be willing to give me their poop. Then I could put it in a blender with saline and give myself a poop enema, as described here among other places.

I'm pretty sure the expected value of this would be positive, even if I would end up getting any disease they have and didn't tell me about or didn't know themselves. Still prolly won't do it, but more out of the awkwardness than because it would be a bad idea medically.

Didnt the Chinese use to extract steroids and other medicine from horse and cow urine ?
Of course it had to be processed somewhat and by todays medical standards is primitive

I'd imagine for Poor Rual people dying of cancer because of the lack of healthcare its better then nothing, or sending what little life savings to some lying Televangelist promising a miracle cure.

"good mental, intestinal, etc. health who might be willing to give me their poop"

I would add: from someone who did not use antibiotics for a long time (could be infected with clostridium difficile bacteria), has not been on tropical travels (could be infected with micro organisms), does not use medicins
And ask what food pattern. To see if that has enough fit with your food pattern.
(it looks more and more like that part of our health from food is coming from feeding our intestinal bacteria adequately, preferrably ofc the right bacteria)

At least the russian statue looks somewhat cool, and isn't entirely ridiculously sized like the indian one (which moreover is of a specific politician...).

TIL, British colonialist (?) feeds Chinese (?) people with seeds like Pigeons. I convinced they really think they were literally a kind of animal.

why is this so surprising?
It's over 100 years old, did you like think people wouldn't ever try to build large statues ever again?
But it is beaten by the Leshan Giant Buddha at nearly twice as high and over 1000 years earlier. Yeah, he is leaning against a cliff, but still...

I thought that said Lesbian Giant Buddha for a moment and was somewhat confused.

Don't do it.
a) current results for IBS are very mixed. There were 2 clinical trials last year, and in one there was a minor effect seen, while in the second one the placebo actually performed better. We also just recently submitted the results of the trial, and the outcome is basically random. We suspect that there are more variables to it, like donor or recipient factors, side of administration, mode, duration, etc. So once will not do it
b) results on mental health are mostly based on case reports, and there you always need to see that this might be correlated with overall health state
c) the administration is basically the only really dangerous thing for fecal transplants. If done via the upper route, regurgitation of the donor feces, followed by pneumonia is the worst (and very rare) adverse event, which should also not happen if done properly, and via the lower route, a damage of the intestinal structure (perforation) can happen, if done improperly. Both are not adviced to be done by yourself.

There are even more things to consider.
- Healthy immune state
-- includes no allergies
-- no colonization by potential intestinal parasites
-- no colonization with potential bacterial pathogens
-- above includes also non-pathogenic variants of pathogens, in case they are multi-drug resistant
- no promiscous sexual behaviour
- healthy BMI
- healthy mental state (things can be hidden)
- Good age range (20-50)

But as said: Don't do it yourself.

Some things like that have been hypothesized before.
Interesting read is https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/24990702/ , which hypothesizes that common religious rituals (like kissing artifacts) is a form of mind controlling bacteria to spread further.
We consider this pretty crazy right now, but the paper is rather well thought through, I'd say (at least I was entertained).

EDIT:
A more realistic example is obviously rabies.
Also the very common toxoplasma gondii infection is suspected to change the state of mind in subtile ways. We cannot expect more news on that though, because the US just recently shut down their national toxoplasma facility.

It could certainly be postulated that bacteria rule the world anyway.

wasn't today, but I recently like learned bosons can occupy the same quantum state (which fermions can't)

which I have trouble visualisng any other way than bosons being like "transparent"

Well, bosons are the force-carriers and the stuff that makes up the stuff that makes up everything, so I guess it's not entirely strange that they violate even the basic fundamental laws of quantum physics, as we previously understood them. You could simply assume that they are ethereal or incorporeal, rather than transparent, but I guess whatever works for you.
