TIL: Today I Learned

Today I learned that storm chips are apparently only a thing in the Maritimes. I thought everyone bought potato chips before a storm. :crazyeye:

And that ketchup chips aren't really common outside of Canada.
It happens elsewhere, but not on as large a scale as apparently happened in your region. The only time I've ever seen a chip section of a store depleted is when there's been an extraordinarily good sale on, and it's a long weekend or holiday such as Christmas.

I do keep food around that can be eaten without needing to be cooked. Campbell's Chunky Chili (the hot and spicy variety), plus soda crackers and something to drink, will keep me happy. I eat it straight from the can (the nice thing about living with a cat is that Maddy doesn't care if I lack table manners).

Sounds just gross. :(
Ketchup-flavored potato chips vary a lot, depending on which company puts them out. Old Dutch is best, Lays is not bad, and even Pringles is acceptable. Doritos just started offering ketchup-flavored chips, and it's... edible, I suppose. But they should really stick to the cheese and ranch flavors. They didn't get the ketchup flavor right.

I love ketchup-flavored chips, and occasionally crave them. They're more sweet & spicy, instead of salty, and there's definitely a noticeable amount of vinegar flavor. Overall, they're a nice change from the basic flavors, but you do need to have something handy to wipe your fingers. They tend to make the fingertips red if you eat a lot of them at once.

Yeah, what's next? Ketchup on fries?
What a strange idea. :crazyeye:

I've substituted barbecue sauce for ketchup at times.

Nah, ketchup on fries is alright.
Not as good as mayonnaise on fries though.
:ack:

Spain gets a bad rap for all the colonial atrocities, but where would we be without potatoes and tomatoes ?
Seriously !
Turnip fries/chips ? No !

To all the pre-Columbian civs:
Thank you for your sacrifice. If I had a time machine I would give you mayonnaise and flintlock guns.
I'm not sure how effective a mayonnaise gun would be... :hmm:

Dried banana chips are yummy. :yup:

Hard disagree.

This is the best chip flavor:

Those are crisps, not chips

TIL that angles are not inherently dimensionless (like quantities that are simply counted, e.g. the number of molecules in a container) and neither are they inherently length ratios.
According to boffins at NPL (UK) and NIST (USA), the SI Brochure specifying that the radian is to be treated as a derived unit equal to a metre per metre is based on one of many common misconceptions.

TIL that Machu Picchu, and several Incan cities like Cusco, Ollantaytambo, and Pisac seem to have been deliberately built along tectonic fault lines and substrate fracture lines. The placement made it easier for masons to carve building stones, and also meant that melt-water and rainwater was more easily channelled towards where it was needed.

This one seems counter intuitive to me as an angle is a relation between two dimensions?

This one is neat, thanks.

TIL that Pope Clement I was executed by being thrown into the sea with an anchor around his neck. Also he is known as the Patron Saint of Mariners. So there's that.

Pope Gregory VII issued a statement granting himself assorted powers such as "All princes shall kiss the feet of the Pope alone", "His name alone shall be spoken in the churches.", and "This is the only name in the world."

And finally I learned that two Italian city-states Bologna and Modena fought a battle in the 1300s. Modena won the battle and took a well bucket from Bologna as a war trophy. That bucket is still on display in Modena to this day.

Today I learned that there really isn't much difference between white and brown eggs. The difference in price is because the hens that lay brown eggs are bigger and cost more to feed.

If I've like heard correctly in like his diaries from when he was a kid he wrote about how much he hated france and french people, and how he was mocked in school for his accent
I haven't read his diaries, but seeing the levels of intentional culturicide by central governments in the last 300 years it would be no surprise at all.
Today is trash day.
Tell gangleri.

Egg shell color is kinda like skin color. And the insides are essentially the same.
