Ok, I'm determined to try to make this work. There are some obvious problems with this kind of quiz. First of all, it's not so easy to recognize the lyrics without the tune. Second, we have people here of different ages, with different musical tastes, from different countries, etc. and that makes it harder still. So what I propose is that we give little hints to help narrow the lyric down, like maybe decade and genre.

I'll start with something easier than Paperlate.

90's Rock

I just want some one to say to me
"I'll always be there when you wake"
Ya know I'd like to keep my cheeks dry today
So stay with me and I'll have it made

60's Rock

For the music is your special friend
Dance on fire as it intends
Music is your only friend
Until the end

I was going to let someone else answer this one (especially since it is sooo easy) but since no one else is ...

The End by The Doors

Since andrewgprv has not confirmed my answer, I declare it correct and attempt to continue this thing ...

80s metal:

You walk through the subway, his eyes burn a hole in your back
A footstep behind you, he lunges prepared for attack
Scream for mercy, he laughs as he's watching you bleed

Actually it was "When the musics over" but you got the band :goodjob:

You're right ... The End is a completely different song ...

Anyhoo I thought I would wait for someone else as well, but seeing as you and I are the only ones participating in this thread...

It's Iron Maiden

Killers

Ok I'll try this one more time, it's an easy one too

90's Hip Hop

When the rain hits my window
I take and me {inhale, cough} some indo
Me and Timbaland, ooh, we sang a jangle
We so tight, that you get our styles Tango
Sway on dosie-do like you loco

Hey! That's cheating - no one guessed my lyrics from the last one. You're just doing this 'cos you don't know any Thin Lizzy. And I don't know any hip-hop so I'm sulking

:)

I'm doing this because I refuse to let this concept die. So since andrewgprv's easy hip hop is too hard I have an easier easy one ;)

80s rock

Walked out this morning
Don't believe what I saw
A hundred billion bottles
Washed up on the shore
Seems I'm not alone at being alone
A hundred billion castaways
Looking for a home

I think that's Message in a Bottle by the Police

Ok, this one should be fairly easy

80s Metal

Feel my stare, always there
There's nothing you can do about it.
Develop and expose
I feed upon your every thought
And so my power grows.

ahh, C'mon this one's not hard, I'll give you another hint:

The line above the posted goes: Electric Eye, in the sky ;)

Modern Pop-Rock (this century)

It's definitely Cold Play. Probably "The Scientist", I think.
