Unit requests thread

Thanks nudden ... that was fast.

I'm looking for an English Razee. This one here doesn't look too bad:

Are there any better ones out there?

I think the second one looks good.

What I really need is a Takabara.

The Takabara were Persian peltasts. They carried a shield called a taka and used an axe called a saggris in close combat.

Voyhkah, have you seen my ancient persians?
The axeman is a takabara. Here is a screenshot. His sagaris axe is of the war pick variety like one of the ones shown on the sagaris wiki page.
It looks different from the one you posted, but it is pretty accurate. You can always reskin it if you wish.

I have a request which pertains to The Capo's Celtic (Scottish) Industrial-era Units. They look great, but there's just one problem: I don't like the red jackets. Obviously, the Highland regiments did have red jackets, but they don't really fit with the Celts' civ-colour. Can anyone change these otherwise-excellent units so that the jackets are civ-coloured?

Oh the irony. I was just going to make another thread to ask how to add team colors to units (and obviously post in in Units forum, obviously to piss you off) but your request made me to look around a bit so now I know how it's done.

Let me do it one more time please... Ahem...

"Unbelievable. You've been here since 2002, have over 6000 posts and you still haven't figured out how to add team color?"

Ok, now enough. Get your units in the attachment :).

I actually do know how it's done, having seen this tutorial as well. I just had trouble matching up the changes in the alpha channel to the RGB channel and I thought that someone out there would be better at it.

Thanks for the work, by the way.

It looks like you've missed a few bits on the jacket, as they still show up red. Also, there's a big red blotch on the back of the kilt near the hip - I can see it on the janissary_128 dds file. I hate to impose, but I don't suppose you could tidy it up a bit?

See, it's not as easy as it looks :p

Could you post some screens just so we can see how they look?

Sure can

Here they are from the front - you can see some red in the triangles created above and beneath the sash and at the shoulder:

EDIT: also notice the red parts on the kilt in the loop created by the Grenadier's straps

And here they from the back - again, you can see red under the sash on the jacket, and that red blotch on the kilt

Also, I noticed that the civ-colour is very bright. I think that that's because the alpha channel is painted with black rather than grey scale. For example, here is the alpha channel from a different team-coloured unit:

I don't wish to appear ungrateful to Deon, I just think that it's almost there but not quite.

EDIT: Also, if I was being really fussy, I would say that the checked-banding on the bearskin hat and the top of the socks didn't need to be civ-coloured, it was just the jacket that I was looking for.

I know why the red is there. I removed the tails from the Rifleman unit, so without the tails there is extra red there. He probably just used the one texture (from the Grenadier I'll assume) and used them for all of them, but they do not all use the same texture.

I used the Janissary :). Sorry I didn't have time to test, I just wanted to help. I will try harder next time.

P.S. By next time I mean when I fix them, I don't slack off :). I am just a bit busy with university studies today.

It is the same file names for them, (Janissary_128.dds or whatever) but they aren't all the same textures, they are slightly different so you have to compare them. Then the Grenadier file is the texture for the coat-tails.

This may be on odd request, but can anyone make a Toad unit? Toad as in the little mushroom guy from Nintendo?

I'm making a Mushroom Kingdom civ and I was thinking about using Toad as my special unit.

Thanks if you can manage. :)

Can anyone make an African Horse Archer? I can't find any in the database.
