I'm a really nOOb in blender. As I recall it doesnt take Nifs, so I made an obj file. is that the way to do it?
nope - use this scripts: http://niftools.sourceforge.net/wiki/NifTools (nif blender import / export scripts - also download nifskope, you will need it too) - with this scripts your imported model will also have it´s texture attached (if the base texture is teamcolor.bmp [some teamcolored non shader meshes] you have to change this in Blender - because the script will use the base color of the mesh in the nif as texture)
and when i import it I get one, unmodifiable, paratrooper block without texture. I am sooo lost in blender. and they didnt make it easier by following windows standards regarding object handling and filesystem, not to mention the 10007321 different buttons and infos and modes.
Blender is a bit hard at the beginning, but after some time you will get used to the options you need. For the steps described above you only need very basic knowledge. Perhaps you should have a closer look at Ekmeks Leaderhead tutorial - there are also some Blender basic described. A general good starting to Blender would be the "From Noob to Pro" tutorial (the first 20 - 30 pages to get the basics)
And how would I make the head smaller on the marine in NifSkope? its all just one block (with the exception of his weapon. otherwise I couldnt change it to the svd).
the model is rigged to bones, and the parts of the model rigged to this bone are affected by changes of this bone. So if you scale the head bone (you have to expand the tree a bit - or select the bone via the NiSkinInstance of the mesh) - the head will be smaller. Because the model is rigged it can be outside of the armature and will be still affected by movement / changes of the armature bone - an unrigged object (no all, but a lot weapons) must be made child of the bone directly to be affected by the movement of the bone
Sorry to sound like a total noob, but I guess thats what I am when it comes to 3D modelling.
do you really think we were born with our knowledge

The rangedstrike kf attempt was even worse![]()
you should have a look at my nifskope tutorial - and there is a small older mini tutorial where you see the entry you have to change
And here is the script described which allows you to merge textures via blender:
