Unit requests thread

It looks like the same unit to the one Phungus pointed out above.

Sorry .

I have this unit in the Heroes mod I posted. its a bit more futuristic thought.

I believe it original was a unit for the Song of the Moon mod.

Damn, wy do i not have this unit?

-create unit based on gunship model - for the purpose of making future ship just like gunships,
the problem is that there are some nice models but they are desind for air domain and once put on land domain, they are set on the ground....
so i need them to be based on gunship for same use.

You can change the height of an unit very easy in nifscope.
If they are sticking in the ground, then just set them on the Z-Axis a bit higher.

Could someone create a Stinger Infantry based on the SAM Infantry? I'd like to use it in a recent Soviet Union mod I downloaded off the site.

I have a request.. Not for a specific unit because i can now make units myself; anything i want i can make. My request is for model makers to think a bit beyond making great looking units that fill some need and also think about making units which are performance friendly. For example, units which are efficient with textures and don't include lots of unneccessary polygons that aren't even used.

I turned MechaErik's Assyrian Swordsman model into a Maccabee/Isrealite Swordsman as well. I'm still working on it (obviously) as far as the texturing goes. Any ideas as to what I should change on it?

EDIT: I am already aware that the face does not match the skin on the rest of the body.

that's likely because the current unit in picture does not have animations attached. Also, at game-scale, such a small thing likely won't matter.

FfH has one, used as a mercenary.

By the way, is a Roman Centurion available? Since writing the earlier post about how to incorporate different figures in the same unit, I thought it would be nice to have a Centurion commanding two Legionaries in the Praetorian unit.

The Assyrian spearman and swordsmen are well done: will there be an Assyrian Axeman?

And since I'm in a Roman mood, a verse from The Lays of Ancient Rome.

Which version of FfH? Can you give me a link, or is it the one used in BtS?

The model should be present in the newest version of FFH too. But you will have to unpack the file from the archives.

@ Bakuel; this may be a late request at this point. But I was wondering if you could remake the Gallic Swordsman (or whatever its called) because I don't think it looks very accurate. Sure the tats and all are pretty good, but I don't really think the clothing looks right. They should have checkered/plaid pants, a shield, spiked hair (probably more reddish), and a sword rather than the axe with the kilt thing going on.

Just a thought.

@The Capo. Don't worry, I was already going to remake it. As well as the Berserker for that matter.

Question, Do you like your Gauls with their shirts on or off. :mischief:

I was actually going to make the swordsman have chainmail, Celtic peoples are probably the inventors of chainmail (at least in Europe) despite the half naked screaming warrior stereotype. I was actually going to make the axeman and spearmen, have spiked hair and no shirt and the swordsman have chainmail.

And a statue of a Gallic warrior,

Having read up on it it seems that there were a few types of Gallic/Celtic uniforms used. The reason some would fight without shirts on (or even naked with a cloak on) was that they were young nobles known as Fianna. These nobles would fight like that to show their fearlessness (not due to lack of equipment). They'd either fight with the colored pants or a colored cloak (and in many cases only a colored cloak) which would have the colors and design of their family on it. Their normal soldiers would either have the chainmail or if they couldn't afford it skins or just whatever clothing they had at their disposal. These regular troops rarely had shields (because they were expensive to make/maintain).

Do whatever you think is best, you are better at this than I am, but I think if you remake the Gallic Warrior/Swordsman the shirtless version is a must.

I'll probably just make both. :crazyeye:
Keep in mind that will take awhile for me to make the Celtic set with exams coming up and everything.

That's fine, I can only speak for myself but I personally don't really need them for a couple of months anyway.

The Fianna were a semi-mythical Irish warband; they probably can't be taken into anything less than a mythology mod.

That isn't true, well not entirely. The Fianna you are speaking of ARE quasi-mythical in the sense that they are named for the actually Fianna (which was just a young Celtic noble who had yet to prove his manhood through battle). This is partially why I thought we needed a more true-Celtic unit set. You are talking about the Irish concept of the Fianna, which did have Celtic roots, but in my mind was no longer Celtic in the sense that we mean them for Civ (especially if you consider Brennus is a Celtic leader). But as far as I know Fianna is a term for a Celtic nobleman, the Fianna you speak of was in fact a quasi-mythological Irish warband, simply sharing a name doesn't mean they are the same thing. Think Kush, or Iberia (there are two Kushes and two Iberias which are completely unrelated).

EDIT: I am speaking more of Gallic Celts than British ones.

I downloaded FfH 2, and it seems to work well, but it does not include any graphic, so I can't see any unit, building and so on in the game or the civilopedia. I did not find any graphic in the asset-folder, too. Can you tell me, how to find this archives?

OK; that's a good point. For Gallic Celts, what about the Massilan semi-hoplites that grew up?
