[MOD] v41 SVN and GithubDesktop Bugs and Crashes Single player

this happened a while back, say around 5-8 SVNs before latest. . .
I think I reported that several SVNs ago on Discord....

Graphic paging on.
Using latest Master version (assert DLL), and SO's save from 7th March.
Time: 45 seconds.

Could be it caused by overflow fix, that I added on SVN 11302, which then I removed on SVN 11303 on next day?

Anyway I turned paging off, and now turn time is 47 seconds, absolutely no change (natural variation).

Lets see SVN 11301 from February 25th.
Maybe somehow this slowed down game?
Fixed NPC's becoming regular civs in the eyes of the code when having any players on the same team. (Toffer)
This is SVN 11302, 7th March.

I might try starting a new game (I want to try another strategy anyways) and try catching the culprit by the tail on the exact turn it happens.
But can't guarantee.

BTW: does anyone have ANY of the Civs i added WAAAAY back, like confed or north/south etc civs?? if so please let me know thx. . .
Aren't they all in the mega civ pack in the modmods?

Did y'all update to 11304 - this is one where I reduced paging time to default.
This is SVN, that is moddb V41.2 release.

11305 is after moddb release, and its marked as V41.2 version.

I have the latest SVN , and it is happening still, lag time about 2 minutes. . .after about 900 turns in . .

I got your last save, and tried latest Release (final release DLL)
Took 50 seconds with graphical paging.
60 seconds without graphical paging.
BTW that save is on 1644th turn.

So its not caused by graphical paging.

55 seconds on 11034.

ok, was going to check out each SVN starting at 1 Feb on,
i guess i will go back to the original thought i had, back to 1 Feb SVN, and go from there . . .

EDIT: I am trying 1 Feb SVN and i get turn times of 25 seconds. . .

was doing these wrong, went back to 11303 was only doing 1 turn when u need to do at least 3 turns. . turns times r at 98 seconds here. .

11302 - 1st turn 24 seconds,,, 2nd turn 25 seconds,,, 3rd turn 85 seconds. . .

11301 - 1st turn 82 seconds. . 2nd turn 28 seconds .. . . 3rd turn .24 seconds,, 4th turn.. 24 seconds, ok 5th turn . . 22 seconds, , , ,10th turn 21 seconds. .

so it looks like it has something to do with 11302 and beyond. .

i am going to leave it at 11301 for awhile and see if anything changes. . .

@raxo2222 I'm now at turn 50 in a new Blitz game (and stopped playing until later).
Reasonable turn time, so not yet caught up with the culprit, lol.
But last time it was around turn 90, so I'll know when I get around that number.
Also, Nightmare is outright annoying, lol.
Like, I see cities growing to size 3 on turn 25 - so either I'm unused to super-speed all along, or Nightmare makes AI cheat, bah.
Oh, and as of your challenge, well, so far it's not too hard to just Shift-click a couple columns from top to bottom and forget about it for while.
My tech speed is about 1.5 turn per tech, so it takes a while to fill a column or two, lol.

Well, turning off graphics paging seems to improve turn time to me. Also with new aggressive paging it's a pain to click somewhere on minimap and wait while everything slowly loads tile by tile while animation looks like slideshow (because FPS drops to 3-4 frames). Makes game feel much less responsive.

OOOOOKKKKKAAAAAYYYYY...
I had this suspicion before, but I have PROOF now.
Nope, there's nothing wrong with the graphics.
AI, though...
Unless it was that way before, but let's be honest - I got a HUGE surprise when a Neanderthal HORDE of like TWENTY units popped up on my borders.
Had played some more, but eventually decided to take a CLOSER LOOK.
Yup... took one.
Here's what I saw, lol.
So, yeah, it's not even a bug - it's a "feature".

It's not aggressive paging, Raxo slowed it down to help with the stuttering. But.. I think raxo2222 needs to put the Graphic paging setting back where it was.

But since this is a 13+ year old 32 bit engine game that can be played with 500 MB of vram you should Not be expecting super video. Gonna be disappointed if you think that way. Young players are too wrapped in super FPS. Kick that idea out of your head when you play Civ IV BtS and the mod Caveman2Cosmos.

I was going to put that in as my best guess, that it has something to do with the AI mobilizing, deciding something to do or whatever. Some turns take longer than others because huge armies at rest start mobilizing, and yes it CAN mean a LONG turn time difference suddenly. Some AI improvements are planned. It will take a long time to come to fruition. But planned.

Barb AI(which includes Neanderthal Barb) does not build up cities. Few basic buildings and then it's pops out unit(s) every turn. You play on The Largest Map made for the Mod and what did you expect??? Also Nightmare Deity the AI gets 2 Bands of homo sapiens and 8 + units to start the game PLUS (iirc) about 8 or 9 free starting tech.

You on the other hand get 1 brute and a 1 bandnad no free tech.

And animals will start to spawn after a few turn in too.

look at my last post 12:44 pm. .

EDIT: Also i have these graphics options set, are these ok??? i wont play on anything besides 1024X768

My screenshots are from around my turn 100, lol.
And it started around turn 70 on both game attempts, so there must be some trigger that causes them to EXPLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODE like this.
Note that I wasn't even losing to them - I beat the invaders rather soundly.
But the TURN TIME... uuuuuggggghhhhh...
It was AWFUL.
Impossible to PLAY in the technical, not strategical, sense.
Something MUST be done, PLEASE.
Although I just realized that I should simply try a game WITHOUT Barbs and Neands - might help a lot, since normal civs don't go THAT much CRAZY with units.
A pity, since I also used "Never raze cities" - which, in hindsight, would cause it to get EVEN WORSE over time.
So, yeah, I'll try a non-Barb game some time later (probably tomorrow).
Should be LESS problematic.

Crazy to me that someone would feel that the speed of play is more important than the challenge in the game. Just me I guess.

I wasn't talking about "super FPS", I mentioned FPS dropping to 3-4 frames per second (not BY 3-4 FPS, but TO 3-4 FPS) and making animations look like slideshow while paged graphics reappear on screen.

OK, proof is proved - the guilt is solely AI's.
I tried playing a game with NO Barbs, which means NO stupid hordes to generate turn lag beyond any reason.
Just me and 39 more civs - duking it out peacefully (lol).
No Barbs, thank you very NOPE.
Here's my save the turn I left Prehistory (130+).
No lag whatsoever, and the game is rather challenging, but not annoying.
I'm in the lower third of the Old World score, though it seems that some Natives in the New World are having the time of their lives, loool.
Anyways, I haven't been attacked by anyone besides an occasional Exile altogether.
So this time AI is a tame sheep, lol.
I actually enjoy this game, hehehe.
Yes, Blitz Nightmare, like @raxo2222 suggested.
Just without Barbs causing the NOISE.
