VQ07 - Snakes on Pangea!!

I think its a pretty fantastic turnset and well-written report. :goodjob:

I won't worry about economy ... heh, I seems to keep saying that in all the SGs whenever we are at war ... but the fact remains that 40% of 2000 > 100% of 200.

I hate wasting GEs on national wonders .... I would say either use the GE for Statue of Liberty or join him.

--

Good stuff Armstrong. We can't be too far off from domination at this pace. Would we have enough taking out Toku.

Statue of Liberty is always a favourite and good one to burn GE for.

He should be back tomorrow since his OOP is until July 29.

Well, I'd say we're looking good here.

I thought that with the war with Gahndi just ended, I would be relegated to a builders turnset.

And I was.

For the first couple of turns anyways.

Turn 4, my trigger finger got a little itchy...

warje8.jpg

And yes, I did ask for (and receive) all Toka's gold. But snakes are evil right? We turn on a friend and destroy him....

Karachi is lightly defended, and sits right at our border... so of course you can bet it falls immediatly:

kagoeo4.jpg

Toka does have quite a few stacks. Knights, Samurai, and Cats... no match for Cossaks, Cannons, and Grenadiers. I spend a bit of time taking care of those pisky units. (No losses by our side)

During the war, I upgraded our units. Our named Maces are now Grenadiers. All Cats have been upgraded to Cannons. Available gold is not super high, but I'm sure spoils of war will keep our economy running.

The next city to fall is Satsuma. I *had* to be sure to do this right, less I get another :gripe: from GreyFox...

Hopefully that will be satisfying for him...

No other cities we taken, but we have 2 stacks, one at Tokyo, and one at Kyoto. I have just begun to bonbard Kyoto, and here's the defensive stack:

kyotota5.jpg

Toka attacked out of the city with cats last turn, and has injured our stack slightly. There's a couple of medics in the stack, so we should not be in too bad of shape.

Also of note, the first Musket just appeared for Japan. I am glad I did not wait too long...

No bombardment yet at Tokyo, but troops are in place for next turn. The picture there:

So eektor can take it now in a swap, hopefully he feels up to it after just getting back...

And of course, the save:

Well, it looks like hatty Has neglected going for Democracy - she instead went for Scientific Method. So while she'll most likely beat us to Physics and the free GS, we'll have no trouble getting SoL with a GE. :D

I'm a bit worred about the stack outside of Kyoto. It's pretty badly damaged and not on defensible terrain. If Toku emptied his city on it, we'd take some serious casualties. However, we have 6 cossacks closing in on it.

PS. I got left behind! I'm still in Shanghai. Or did my heroism in the Indo-Russian war earn me a desk job?

Where the heck am I still garrisoning a city with a deskjob. DOH....

I don't know do you think he would use lbm's with CD2 defense. I imagine they will stay put so the rest might do a little damage.

Like I mentioned, Toka attacked outside of Kyoto last turn. He suicided 4 cats, and attacked with 2 Samurais. That's why we're so wounded... but I doubt he will attack more IBT, he didn't even use his last two cats last turn.

Sure why not. And then the citizens will have to worship you...LOL
or make them worship the Snake god.

Well, I was planning on playing last night but then my dsl went out and I realized I didn't download the save yet. :wallbash:

Well, I can play tonight and if my dsl is still not working post the turn report tomorrow morning.

its all good. I'm not some overbearing dictator on game order (as long as GreyFox doesn't play every other turn!)

Dsl sucks cable rules... Went from dsl to cable and never will look back again. Du bist keine Fuhrer Herr Bobrath. You are more of a democratic/capitolist type I take it. Oh BTW bought a new brand of breakfast cereal. LOL...... Go get em Eektor.

Well this is a got it, playing tonight and will hopefully post tonight (if my internet is back) or tomorrow morning.

Well, to be honest the dsl isn't too bad. Last time I've had problems was over a year ago.

Ok, dsl is back so here is the report. One problem the autolog didn’t happen so I can’t be specific on the buildings I built, most of them were units though.

Turn 0: 1700 AD
Pressed enter

Turn 1: 1705 AD
Survived a Japanese attack on the siege of Kyoto and lost a grenadier. (Don’t worry Maquis and Cobra Commander are alright.)

The units are battered and war weary so I sent some units to reinforce the siege of Kyoto and Tokyo.

Turn 2: 1710 AD
Lost a Cossack and grenadier from the Japanese attack on the siege of Kyoto. Maquis and CC are still alright.

Battle of Tokyo

Two cannons were sent in to loosen up the defense. (both of them survived)
General GreyFox led the charge into the city. (There was a 98.9% chance of winning, so no I didn’t send GreyFox in a suicide mission.)
General Eektor continued the fight and knocked down almost all of the defenses so that General Cosmichail walked right in the city and captured it.

Battle of Kyoto

The cannons bombarded and the Cossacks charged the city. After the Cossacks bloodied up the city the remaining forces dug in and kept the siege going.

Turn 3: 1715 AD
Democracy -> Replaceable Parts (heading for Rifling)

Battle of Kyoto

The Cossacks were sent in for the second charge. The city could not withstand this second charge and Cobra Commander walked in with Maquis by his side and set up his new regime in the Buddhist holy city of Kyoto.

Turn 5: 1725 AD
Toku asks for peace and 70 gold, I said take your gold and shove it in your …

As General Eektor was surveying the land around Tokyo, he saw a beautiful city by the coast not too far from Tokyo. He said, “I must have that beautiful city so I can have a second home right by the coast. There were certain people that wanted to make Nara an example and burn down the village and destroy everything around it, <cough> General Bobrath <cough>. General GreyFox offered his support in Eektor’s little side conquest. General Cosmichail decided to stay in Tokyo. (History does not know why Cosmichail did not go. Some say he didn’t want to anger Bobrath and others say that with Eektor and GreyFox gone, he would be able to line his pockets with money while he ruled Tokyo before the two generals came back.

Turn 7: 1735 AD
Replaceable Parts -> Rifling

After the short journey, General Eektor and GreyFox captured and kept Nara. General Eektor decided to stay in Nara for some more time while GreyFox went back to Tokyo to check up on General Cosmichail.

Turn 10: 1740 AD

The siege of Nagoya and Osaka started.

Afterturn comments:

Nagoya and Osaka should fall soon. Japanese has only Edo and Cologne left after that. War weariness is starting to get hard so we might want to finish this war as quickly as possible.

I didn’t use the GE. We could use him on the Statue of Liberty or wait for another wonder.

We have more generals than troops! And I'm still in Shanghai. Hrmrphf.

I think it would be good to build SoL in Beijing (with Leo's help) as quickly as possible. A free specialist in every city is huge. Hatty still doesn't understand democracy yet, so it should be ours for the taking. The war with Toku is going well. We should probably raze Nagoya- and Cologne maybe, but that would make Fred mad at us - but Edo and Osaka are keepers. :)

Tokyo gets out of unrest next turn - it'd be great if we could raze Nagoya at the same time so it has some more room to breath.

Our military is off the charts, and we have cossacks, so if we want domination/conquest we should push it. We should decide how we want to win soon. If the "Snake Eats All", we should hit Hatty. Normally, I hate declaring on Hatty, but it pales in comparison to our genocide of Gandhi's pacifists... and we want to hit her before she gets too many rifles.

Her capital is actually less well defended than even Gandhi's, so it should be a cakewalk with a few dozen Cossacks :)

Or, we can turtle up and win space/diplo too. It's a won game, now how are we going to win it?
