Warhammer unit request: Chaos Dwarfs & Hobgoblins

What about making the armor on the chest more tattered instead of removing it entirely. Wonderful giant by the way...

Yeah that coding thing has always baffled me too... I'm too much of a visual person I guess. I need to see the clay in front of me as I molding it.

if I might give my two cents on these suggestions for the armor - a Bone Giant of Khemri is not a resurrected giant warrior with tattered armor and dulled weapons. It is a mystical construct that would be armed and armored after its creation. A Bone Giant wouldn't have tattered armor.

Lookig a bit better, I won't comment on the headdress though, it's hard to judge it from that angle. I won't miss it if it goes, though.

Well, no pharaoh beard, but I decided to make a test with the headress. Okay, it looks silly (to me), but maybe that's just me. :)

No, it looks pretty silly to me as well. However it my simply becuas eI can't get my friggin eyes to focus

Like Gomurr said, it's not a resurrected creature, but rather a magical creation, so I won't make a tattered armour.

About that coding-thing? Why don't you get it? You have yourself made dozens of units with pov-ray (according to the Unit Artist Library). Or did you model those with Moray (which in turn is a thing I find harder thant the coding thing :) )

Given that it is a magical construct, would it not be likely that the armor would be fairly elaborate. I mean if some wizard went to all the trouble to magic the thing up in the first place, he'd want it to be fairly survivable in combat.

I like the idea of some type of head covering as it would be consistent with the body armor.

If you go without any type of head covering, how about making the eyes red (or some other standout colour) representing either magical energy (or gemstones for eyes).

Great looking unit. I'm dying to see that animation actions.

Misfit

As I understand it, the Bone Giants are armored elaborately for the ancient civilaztion that created them. Furthermore, when Bone Giants are occasionally destroyed, the Liche Priests simply gather the remains and reconstruct it.

I agree on the Bone Giant needing head covering. I think almost everything in the Tomb King army has something on its head, and the Bone Giant seems out of place without something.

But I may be in the minority, and either way, it's an insignificant issue. I just can't wait to see this thing animated and released so I can add it to my game. :)

The bone giant does not need a headgear! The bone giant does not need a headgear!
Go see for yourselves... :mischief:

Besides, do an image search on google, and you'll see bonegiants without headresses.

what about a toupee? :P hey... that could make a good avatar :D

While I agree that the bare skull looks, ... well bare, I must say the thing looks awfully silly with the headdress. It therefore seems best to me to leave it off. (by the way, though I haven't posted much in this thread I've been admiring the units created here all along)

Last month the Goblin Hewer was mentioned... The pictures caught my interest and I started working on a model. I had most of this done before christmas but then with computer problems and switching to a new machine I didn't get back to it until recently. Basicly I didn't want to announce I was doing it until I knew I could animate the thing. I believe this thing will work now and here's a quicky preview. It is missing textures and artistic details and a crew but here is the basic model.

I know this is Dwarven but not Chaos Dwarven but I thought this would be a good thread to post it in anyway since it was mentioned here.

Kinboat you are simply fantastic

Aaglo have you thought about making an elven unit? The mod still uses the same animation for the Phoenix Guard as the spearman, we need a Phoenix Guard;)

Actually the red things are to hold the axes... Another preview with some texture and additions.
I've been trying to figure out the transport of the thing. The model just stands on a pedestal in the table top game but that would make it hard for the poor dwarves to push :D I'll probably add some small wheels under the carriage (although they really won't fit under the model the way I constructed it I suppose it doesn't matter since they won't be seen much).

On a side note the animation of this thing is surprisingly easy. I've done much harder things with a two handed weapon. I've already got the basic motion down so the machine only needs a few tweeks. Now the Crew will be tougher.

Well, maybe it is easy on the animations... yeah  ;) :p

Maybe there could be small wheels under the platform (between the axe convoys) - they could be so small you can't even see them :p

looks great, Kinboat. I can't wait to see this as it develops further. :)

Here's my current progress on my next project (although this isn't either a chaos dwarf thing, this is turning out to be a general warhammer development thread).

Apparently this is a continuum to the tomb king series :)
