What are your thoughts on BitCoin?

It's always been taken to mean 'shut the hell up because you don't have valid opinions because you're just agreeing with people XYZ to troll ABC'. You are literally the person who gave me this definition of circlejerking and you have often cautioned about how the liberal hivemind is coming close to shutting down all dissenting opinion due to the glorious never ending circlejerk.

All I am saying is the words circlejerk has become itself a circlejerk. Mise used it here to say anti-bitcoiners should at the very least not be listened to because they all agree with each other! or they should just shut up. And that's excatly how circlejerking has been used in multiple threads lately.

It's no longer about calling out people who jerkishly troll a user or a dissenting opinion. It's now all about trying to silence dissenting opinion.

I see, as I am then myself in your description circlejerking, would you like for me to shut the hell up?

No, I'd like for everyone to stop b*tching about circlejerking.

Can't we go back to honest trolling people? Is that such an impossible dream to achieve? I believe in a better world, a world where I can troll you and you can troll me and no one tries to take the high road in a car that runs on distilled hypocrisy.

Join me in the mud Farm Boy, you cannot resist. ;)

It's a conditional dream to achieve. Some people can handle trolling, some people cannot. Some people can handle some trolling and not other trolling. I think we both already know that. Mud isn't a bad thing, btw. Most of the meanest people I know are often the cleanest. I rather like my masturbatory references tbh. Perhaps we should let some of the ancient societal shame associated with that action seep out and embrace ourselves honestly when it's likely we're doing it. Perhaps somebody calling out a circlejerk should be taken for what it most likely is, an appeal that they feel either attacked or as if they are witnessing one. Perhaps it should be taken as an appeal for a step back in tone. But I suppose it's pretty easy to annoyed rather than amused when somebody points out that your hair gel might smell a little bit funky.

I was hoping this thread would have turned out better than it did ... :(

If it doesnt shapen up I'll probably request for the mods to lock it.

Making fun of things on the Internet? Not cool man, we have standards here.

Meanwhile people post stuff on this forum that amounts to earnest imploration that the gypsies should be forcibly exported to India, or that the white and Hispanic races should be kept separate, or that slavery wasn't that bad, and that's all fine - par the course for this forum, I suppose. But you make fun of a failed Internet currency - one whose investment and subsequent collapse due to liars and frauds actually *ruined people's lives* (something conveniently being ignored for the sake of theorizing about the virtues of decentralized currency) - and you're a prick, beyond redemption.

Classic! :goodjob: "I may be acting like a massive prick right now, but at least I'm not a racist!!!"

If you'd rather I judge you by the same st

You're really the only one complaining about its use. Other people are using it just fine without claiming it to be some sort of weird meme now instead of just a word used as it is intended. Calling a cow a cow does not make "cow" a meme, after all.

What was the creator thinking when he coined the term BitCoin?

"I'm gonna create a new form of currency that will challenge head on the almighty dollar. People will be stunned at this new way of conducting business and women will queue to have sex with me like they do for the other great Lotharios of the digital age Zuckerman and Gates. And now to ensure my brainchild has an equally awe inspiring name I will add the word Bit in front of Coin. Catchy, e-savvy and immune from mockery opportunities as long as nobody figures out that it can be easily changed to ButtCoin"

I didn't mean I want everyone to stop b!tching about it's use (as I am the only one who is), apologies for being unclear.

I want everyone to stop using that word, period.

Calling a crayon a "cow" does end up making a meme, quite often. We have polandball, after all. There is just no catchy/cool/funny .jpeg to accompany the constant use of the word circlejerk, yet.

Oh well that's not going to happen, sorry. You're just gonna have to bite the bullet and accept this particular loss, I'm afraid.

Thread needs more Petty.

If you're looking for one I recommend cruising through content related to South Park's Shake Weight episode.

For what it's worth, Hobbs, I know how you feel. And it's kinda funny and related to your hate because I feel the same over the very word meme :D

Oh god, spare me. I don't care if you think I'm a "massive prick" (WTH?), all I did was make fun of BitCoins. I shared my thoughts on BitCoin in a thread titled "What are your thoughts on BitCoin?" And some people have to be so unreasonably obtuse that, despite Dachs' excellent primer on BitCoin's less-than-stellar history, it becomes a little hard to drive the point home. The plainly idiotic posts that all go along the lines of "Yeah, so BitCoin's market is extremely volatile and all the people who trade BitCoins are liars, thieves, and morons, but what does that have to do with BitCoins?" somehow get ignored in favor of the relatively few people who posted just to say "Ha! BitCoins!"

You know what? Don't post a goddamn BitCoin thread if you don't want it to get made fun of. This is the Internet and mockery happens in due damn course.

I don't even understand how I'm supposed to be a prick. I made fun of a currency and libertarians, not exactly orphans and cripples. That's pretty normal goddamn behavior. Who the hell goes through life making fun of nothing, ever? Every single thing is sacred? Christ.

I agree that the internet is full of people who act like massive pricks for no apparent reason. Something about anonymity.

You frustrate me.

Well at least everyone knows my name, where I live, what I look like, where I work and where I go to school by now. Hmm I guess I should open a second account so I can be an even bigger prick in anonymity!

You know what I mean. If we were face to face none of this would have happened. It would have gone:

"What do you think about BitCoins?"
"They're nice in theory, but in practice they're totally useless."
"Yeah, that's my impression too. Want another beer?"
"Sure."

No stupid images, no calling them buttcoins, no "libertards" (which is totally offensive to people with learning disorders btw), no acting like a prick at all.

If any of us were face to face with you, we'd be too awed by your presence to even speak. You know this, so don't use unfair examples against others!
