North America #1.

I don't want to be the only Asian ....

I live on an archipelago off the coast of the Eurasian landmass. I live in Europe. The two are technically distinct...

Thats ridiculous. That would be like calling South America Brazil. You can't go around naming continents after the biggest country in them, or any country in them. Too much confusion.

I like Oceania as a name for that continent.

The Pacific islands are not on the Australian continental shelf and New Zealand is really its own mostly submerged continental landmass called Zealandia.

To be more accurate you'd call the continent Australia-New Guinea, but Oceania is a geographical region, not a continent.

Indeed, if Europe is arbitrarily given status as a continent, there is absolutely no reason India, with a much better geological claim, shouldn't be considered as such.

Well, we tend to call it the Subcontinent in this part of the world. It always sounds a bit odd when Brits call Indians "Asian".

I live on Ishtar Terra:

Oh yeah, we'll just ignore the second biggest island in the world then.

Yeah Greenland. :p

I live in Australia, which is a continent, a country and an island. :smug:

According to the def. from wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn

an island is: a land mass (smaller than a continent) that is surrounded by water

It strongly implies something can't be a continent and and island at the same time.

Yeah actually, the main reason I am so vehemently against calling Australia a continent, is because Australians are so vehemently for it. Reminding me that Australia was continent, not merely a country, was second only to how freaking awesome they are compared to Americans on the list of stuff to tell foreigners that the average Aussie seemed to go through in every conversation I had over there with someone I had just met. Third was "Greatest. Sporting. Country. EVER."

Forgive me if I'm a bit irrational in my dislike of the term then. The fight against cocky a-holes comes before logic in my world.

If Australia is an island, so is Antarctica. Therefor Australia becomes the second biggest island.

Don't forget Afro-Eurasia and the Americas. Aussies aren't even in the top 3, then.

And if you count the Canals splitting those two apart, then Australia is down to sixth.

Why did I put Antarctica on the list?

Antarctica, with seasonal appearances in North America, Europe, and Asia

That's why I picked the Chargers for the game later today - Rex Ryan pisses me off
