Quite predictably, an annual thread...

So, what did you achieve in 2019?

As for me:

Positive:
- three new books -translations- printed (well, to be pedantic, the third is to appear this November)
- translated another book
- contracted to complete (and did so) an online lit seminar, which fortunately pays well!

Negative:
- one year older
- no new own work published

Not dying.

Lost 30 pounds, tripled my income (not as impressive as it sounds), recovered my credit score (610 -> 730), started college, got my learner's permit for driving.

Physical health and mental health is worse than ever, though.

On a more serious note:

- Started saving up to move out. :)
- I played a lot of games! (And broke my 3DS, but oh well.)
- Physical and mental health is relatively stable these days.
- Assuming I don't chicken out I plan to post my first fanfic in three years next week.
- I've kind of sorted things out with my mother. She's still...you know, but she doesn't try to push me around so much anymore.
- Not dying.

Still 16% of the year to go, so a bit early :p.

Would need to check what I wanted to do, but...
  • Got my deadlift weight up to 130 kg, although it dropped again a bit
  • Kept up my friendships, kept up good contact with my ex, and got a new good friend
  • I published a lot, and still in the process. One is planned for Science, although my contribution is only minor (and no way to predict if it gets through...)
  • Did some outreach work
  • Helped a friend to make his PhD defense nice
  • Ran again a 10k
Rest i would need to check, maybe later...

Negative:
  • Have not yet found my dream job
  • No sex this year yet

I got married!

No baby though :(

Take heart ! think baby is gonna be due next year , if not by Mr. KB than I think I saw a viking longship on the horizon ... :mischief:

Reiki initation 1st lvl this August
Orchiectomy operation this July

Attended and presented material about Greek/Latin language use in Video games in a prestigous conference (thx CFC for data!! )

Changed hormone therapy from tablets to stickers, it is working much better :)

Gf and I are getting along even better. Changes and hiccups lead to greater understanding.

I'm technically part of spiritual growth organisation now, trying to teach others how to meditate

Lost like 30 pounds

Much better health overall

My iron levels could be better as of last test

Still need to get

Very positive year on job. I have Promoted to a more senior position, which means moar money, and it is closer to my home too!

Not so brilliant in other aspects but nothing bad happened either, which is good enough.

Positive:

- Managed to drive my summer car all summer long without a speeding ticket.
- Taught classes to help out a former prof
- Published
- Finished my Nurse Practitioner coursework (now I just have to find the time for the exams - next year)
- Didn't gain any weight
- Met someone really nice who seems to understand me

Negative:

- Still living alone
- Found my first gray hairs
- Fell down the stairs last month and knocked myself unconscious (and dislocated my shoulder)
- Chipped one of my molars on a hard candy this summer and had to have a root canal

All in all though, it's been a pretty good year.

Positive:

Didn't have to wait 6 months for cataract surgery (that's how long the optometrist said it would be; the ophthalmologist cut that down to 6 weeks for one eye and 6 weeks after that for the second eye). My next appointment is in November, after which I should hopefully have everything taken care of and can get new glasses. It's nice to be able to navigate around town and the mall, but not great to be unable to read normal printed pages. For someone who normally reads a lot, this past year has been frustrating.

Other positive:

Writing. I've got two Camp NaNoWriMo wins this year, and in 5 days I start on the November event to make it a hat trick (assuming it goes as planned, that will make hat tricks in consecutive years).

Reiki is dangerous ! Please watch out !

Haryuken !! xD

It's only October! I'm still in warm-up, I haven't begun to achieve yet! So much achievement ahead of me. Nov/Dec will be off the rails. Probably maybe.

Positives
Last month someone named a mathematical method after me: "the Ferocitus ship-viscosity model".

I'm now have a score on ResearchGate that is 52.5% better than the other nerds there and, as of last week, I have had 10,000 reads of my papers.
That's really not a lot compared to huge numbers of other researchers, but most of the last 5,000 reads were for papers I wrote before 2002, so it's nice to see some other nerds catching up with me. :)

I bought a pair of iridescent shoes.

Negatives
I'm struggling to get my computational model of iridescence working. I think I might be spending too much time staring at my beautiful iridescent shoes. :(

I'm struggling to get 16 decimal place accuracy for an "essential" aerodynamic constant. I have 10 places definitely in the bag, but 16 would guarantee I get my name attached to it.

We moved into a new apartment and I wake up to see a horrible mural painting of Alexander the Great's head through my window.

I didn't know you have papers online. Which one do you suggest I read? :)
