What is, in your view, a good life?

What characteristics do you feel are needed if one is to have what you deem as a good life?

I have changed my mind on this several times. When i was in university (and earlier) i thought that i have to be very famous as an author, before that i dreamed of being a well-known mathematician.

However as years go by i have altered my view. Now i do not really mind if i am not that famous. After all worrying about it can do no good, even if one thinks that the added worry would push him to try harder; one can always try harder without the worry.

My dreams have, likewise, altered. Although thought and writing is a very significant part of who i am, and i will always be primarily introverted, i came to actually like the idea of a social circle (which i now have,again ), some more intimate relationship, a degree of extroverted happiness.

In this thread you can post what in your view is the prerequisite for a life you would want to have. If you deem you already have it, you can post what you think creates this sense of yours.

Not having to get off my lazy ass and having to work or exercise. Not having to conform to society or having to be a follower of someone or something. Not having to assimilate into society. Doing whatever I damn well please, and giving the finger to society on a regular basis.

That is a good life for me.

EDITED IN LATER: Ultimately, however, the one thing that would make life worth living would be being in a happy, lifelong marriage with my soul mate.

Great life: true romantic love (monogamous for me). Sense of self-worth.

good life: decent means, time to relax, some more meaningful relationships (can just be friendships), some form of a healthy familial relationship--either your family or through a romance--, generally satisfied with life. Sense of self-worth or improvement of the world around you.

great life has a shorter list of requirements for me, as true romance would encompass self-worth, satisfaction, meaningful relation, etc all in one.

Adventure and excitement is what I'm after . I totally accept and embrace that at some point between the next 1 and 10,000 days I will be wiped from the face of the earth for eternity. That's not so great of course , but accepting it has given me the motivation to ensure I try and do and see lots of cool stuff .

If I can achieve this without being a dick head and being a positive influence on others , all the better .
