The problem with afghanistan etc is:

1. Their countries are ****, Afghanistan is already a parking lot...why else do people flee to australia and the Uk if they can from it???

2. Their lives are so **** they don't mind giving them up.

3. Islam gives the idea of an afterlife so good it would be stupid to want to live PLUS that they think dying for their religion gives them a VERY good afterlife.

My points on another forum: Why afghanistan is probably the center...add to it that muslims our one of the few people willing to give up their lives:

1. Afghanistan is led by the Taliban...ruthless Islamic extremists who house Osama Bin Laden and who are keen to impose death on non-islamic people.

2. They have NOTHING to lose and are hard to retaliate against as they have little reliance on the western world.

3. Yesterday they killed Masood by suicide bomb...he was the main opposition to them in Afghanistan...in Afghanistan there is no major opposition left...how can the Taliban be brought down in Afghanistan...what have they to fear of America?

I hope america uses death squads to purge without any hesitation the main leaders of the Islamic world suspected of having attacked or supported the attacks on America.

Sorry for any garbled statements...my response to the bombings was to get drunk and get enraged.

What good is there in these countries? Indoctrination, poverty, ignorance and imposation of their beliefs on others is all I see.

I hope most muslims will distance theselves from the attacks and give full support to destroy those that support the attacks.

If some country is in fact identified as the instigators of these acts, they desrve to be attacked. How can the US government not respond to a clear act of war? Yea, Fishheads, hate breeds hate, just read a few of BlueMonday's posts to see that.

I wonder why designers of aircraft even ALLOW the passengers to have access to the flight cabin - it seems to me almost all hijackings would be thwarted by only allowing accesss to the cockpit from the OUTSIDE of the aircraft. Just have one medical person in the cockpit with the two pilots in case of emergency.

To answer your question H Tower, nothing. The US should accept that this is a tragic act that has cost the lives of many innocent people but should not let this spur them on to the eradication of entire nations as you seem to suggest. Leowind is absolutely correct in his summation of the situation, but I fear that many Americans will not see things as level-headedly as he does and will demand recompense of whichever country the blame is attributed to. The first victims of the finger-pointing were the Palestinians, but I severely doubt that every single Palestinian was involved in a huge plot on this. It is something that was planned and carried out by a small group of extremists (for whichever cause we don't yet know) and so mass retaliation will just result in the extermination of even more innocents. I feel very concerned for all Muslims currently living in the US as they would seem to be the obvious target for the thoughtless retaliation of those who seek vengeance, whether a Muslim terrorist group was responsible or not. There is a very dangerous suspicion that works both ways between the US and Islam and this could provoke a very stupid and unnecessary holy war. Please don't let this be so.<br /> <hr></blockquote>

Agreed, Cunobelin Of Hippo, it is a different kind of war entirely when it is not the traditional state vs. state approach. However, I think any state that harbors and protects these criminals is committing an act of war and should be invaded and conquered. Justice needs to be done, but rationally - flying off the handle does no one any good.
