Spoiler More Mass Effect Breaking :
Managed to save Richard L. Jenkins by spawning a Mako and driving past the spot where he's supposed to die. We meet up with Ashley as normal, although she never joins the squad. The later cutscenes just kind of glitch out and I end up getting stuck at the train station.

I should probably play something else for once

I've been playing "Best Fiends" on my boyfriend's phone ... and I've been rather addicted.

He just texted me asking about all these charges that showed up on his card from Google Seriously ... can I help it if I need more gold bars and meteormites, and they've got packages for just $1.99??

Play this game.

I'm not really sure what I was expecting.

A stock photo perhaps? (Google it if you're not already aware, it's mildly amusing)

That's...pretty awful. Why would Quarians even have hair? No other alien species does.

yes, that's right!

But can you play it on a calculator?

I agree. Those can make a dent in your finances.

And I need a calculator with a bigger screen.

I think I screwed up.

A live-action reenactment of Fleet and Flotilla?

Unfortunately planet management in the Stellaris endgame is still too much of a chore to make it worth playing past about 150 years. They need to either
-automate resettlement of pops (moving your own empire pops from one planet to another is done 100% manually at this point)
-make the Decision to stop pop growth on a planet free, right now it costs 25 Influence. I dunno what on Earth they were thinking making a quality-of-life measure cost in-game resources.

As is the galactic situation is super-interesting (I have a stronger enemy to beat and need to expand in my part of the galaxy to challenge them) and I have yet to fire the crisis, but I'm spending more time shuffling pops around my empire than anything else and that isn't fun.

Do you really think that a government can simply politely ask their citizens to stop breeding? Not in a million years, so an influence cost makes sense.

Dude, I'm playing a Hive Mind. We don't have a "government", or "citizens".

I get that an influence cost "makes sense" (though, imo, really can only be justified for xenophile and/or egalitarian civilizations). But all the mechanical and lore justifications in the world can't make the game fun to play when you're spending more time resettling than anything else knowing that if you don't, the game will punish you with ever-growing unemployment on your planets. If I didn't require Influence to stop pop growth this wouldn't even be a problem. It's more annoying yet because mechanically, allowing pop growth on all planets and resettling to get new planets productive ASAP is the best play, so they're making me pay influence to play sub-optimally because their resettlement mechanic takes the fun out of the game.

I don't recall your saying that you were playing a hive mind.

Yup!

Using the squadmate select screen (ce hench_picksquad) while inside the Mako just spawns them outside the vehicle. And it can duplicate your squadmates. I just...took that to its logical extreme.

That was a whole page ago.

I'm having a hard time imagining the concept of jobs even existing in a setting with true AI, but I guess you gotta give the primitive organic life-forms something to do. Maybe they knit and make wood carvings?

Well, I have a hard time imagining anything but completely automated society being able to compete with another completely automated society, but Stellaris is about SF tropes more than realistic SF ^^

Realistically, the technological singularity would be reached pretty quickly and the machine empires would be totally unstoppable. But that would make for pretty poor gameplay.

I don't think it's difficult to conceptualize. The AI runs the machines and every biological pop is just a programmer working on machines that are extracting minerals, energy, or changing those into research/unity/whatever :D
