What Video Games Have You Been Playing #11: I should go

Borderlands 2 is a stupid game
I found out that the free skull keys make the game somewhat bearable, the enemy are too much bullet sponges. With skull keys you can get level purple weapons from a loot chest in town making the enemies easier, missions shorter and less backtracking for side missions. Its meant to be played co-op as much stupid fun can be had, not reviving each other, accidentally triggering bosses and stealing loot drops

The weapons from the purple chest in Sanctuary are rarely better than what you get from normal drops, IME.

I'm doing the Citadel DLC now. I don't trust the lady after she told me to contact Commander Bailey. Also, how would the mercenaries know to find me at the skycar lot?

Spoiler :
I KNEW IT

The clone wasn't expected, though

I'm much more trusting. After all, Shepard is a famous celebrity and she wasn't shoving a gun in my face...

I'm still not sure

Spoiler :
what the clone intended to do once they stole the Normandy and "became" Shepard. Go fight Reapers, I guess? And wouldn't people find it weird that Shepard suddenly went all anti-alien?

Also, it's kind of weird to think that while half the known galaxy is being wiped by Reapers, Shepard just decides to screw off for a week and party with everyone and get wasted. I guess this sort of thing would work better after the end of the game but I already vaguely know of the endings so that wouldn't work for most of them.

I'll just headcanon that the Normandy got damaged/messed up somehow during the fight (they did try to throw out my hamster...) and that it's taking a while to repair it.

@aimeeandbeatles I think you are having way too much fun with all these new games and should go back to playing Civ 1. :p

I remember the first time I played Civilization 1. Somehow at the very beginning of the game when I had only one city I was completely surrounded by the Germans. I couldn't explore without starting a war. Not fun.

It's canon, not just headcanon. The Normandy needed extra time in dry dock after the piracy attempt.

Besides, combat soldiers can't be kept out in the field indefinitely. If commanders don't want their soldiers to grind down to total combat ineffectiveness, they ensure that the soldiers get leave. This particular slug of leave ended up being unit leave to coincide with major repairs to the ship. Works fine.

I must have missed that line. Glad to see it works though.

Aaaahh Civ 1 I've played as a wee lad miself :old: That moment when Aztec tanks were crushed by me ol' spearman . Aye those were the days ... but then came Gandhi !! - Most fearsome an a bloodthirsty warlord I ever set me eyes upon ! With fury he unleased his bombs the heavens cried , a fire raged from the skies and the world was no more !

I'm not a huge fan either. I don't know if it's that I was playing with my friend who's better than I am and slightly higher level, but I found that all the guns I used were pathetically weak and you often seemingly have to shoot at enemies for like two or three minutes before they die. I had maybe 20-30 hours in it and I'm just not that into it.

Borderlands 1 was very "tanky" as a game, but I actually found that Borderlands 2 mostly fixed this flaw.
One thing, though, is that numbers are very misleading - between resistance/vulnerability to elements, secondary effects and multiple hit per shot, it's pretty hard to guess at first what will actually be powerful without trying it.

In terms of enemies being bullet sponges, I'd rank it as Pre-Sequel, 1, 2. Killing enemies was an absolute chore when I tried Pre-Sequel.

Shepard is never going to live it down...

I've started to play Mass Effect 2. When loading a save game this happened.

This isn't the first time that I was greeted by the face of Garrus when loading a save game.

Later when talking to Avina this line came up.

You guys are probably tinkering a bit too much with your game files

I think story-wise, saving the party until right before you kick off the sequence that leads to the end of the game is most appropriate. The way I see it, it's like the whole gang having one last get together and kinda having a chance to say goodbye to each other before plunging headlong into a battle they all know there is a chance none of them will come back from.

I think there's actually a mod that sets the Citadel DLC to happen after the end of the game, but it doesn't make much sense for most of the endings (which is one of the few things I have been spoiled on).
