Excuse me for sounding snooty, but it irritates me to no end when I look at a thread, or a sentence, and I find that someone, who is an otherwise intelligent person, types paragraphs that are filled with grammatical errors, spelling typos, and/or uncapitalized letters.

Why can't people learn to make fully punctuated, and grammatically correct sentences? This applies to all age groups, inside and out of the CFC. I see improper grammar in a great deal of places, place where spelling and grammar are key to the interpretation of the paragraph. Even books for God's sake!

What do you think? What can we do to stop this menace from consuming us all? Or do you feel that improper spelling and grammar is not rampant? I would like your honest opinions.

Basically as long as I can understand what that person is saying, I really do not care too much about grammar, especially considering the high number of foreigners here who often speak English as a second, third, fourth, or even fith language.

@Mise. I beat you to it. :p

I think maybe people take the ease of the internet for granted. It's easy to communicate your ideas, but that doesn't mean you should stop thinking about what you want to say and how you want to say it.

Most people say 'why bother, it's the internet'. Most of my friends online will talk like this-
"lyk r u cumin 2 mi howse 4 the par t?"
just because they think it looks cool, or because they're lazy. It happens with almost everybody my age.
I try my hardest to use correct grammar and spelling because what I type here affects how I type on a more professional stage.

It happens, move along. I just accept that on internet forums and instant messaging misspellings happen, and that some people ignore capitalisation in order to quickly post. As long as it's readable.

Not to mention that on a forum such as this, as a couple of people have said already, English may not be their first language.

My maternal grammar is dead and my paternal grammar is in Edmonton.

Oh ... it's could HAVE! Not could OF.

And irregardless is not a fricken word

Me apologices for having such bad grammer.

I'm not native english speaker. Nor writer. Nor reader.

Doesn't bother me as long as it's readable.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean it that way.

I meant it more towards people who speak English as a first language. These are the sorts of people who should know better than be grammatically incorrect.

I mean no offense to non-native English speakers.

Maybe it's just that all CFC members are not native English speakers?

Good idea. If we are trying to make a good impression upon others, then everyone should try to talk as best as they can, instead of being sloppy.
