I know that a lot of you plan to become billionaires. To help you find the best place to live in order to accomplish that ambition I have compiled Forbes list of the world billionaires to find out which countries that has the highest billionaire density per capita.

Some billionaires do not live in their home country anymore. I don’t know how I should count them. That they have moved from their home country indicates that the home country is not a good place to be a billionaire, so I don’t think their home country deserves to be credited from them. But if they were billionaires before they moved to their current country of residence it doesn’t say much about how easy it is to become a billionaire in that country. For those reasons I have decided to leave the traitors out of my statistics and only count billionaires whose citizenship is the same country as their country of residence.

So here’s the list of all the countries with billionaire who are both citizen and residents:

Country, Billionaires per million citizens
1. Liechtenstein, 30,3
2. Hong Kong, 2,1
3. Singapore, 1,2
4. Kuwait, 1,0
5. Switzerland, 0,96
6. United States of America, 0,92
7. Norway, 0,87
8. Israel, 0,59

12. Republic of Ireland, 0,51
13. Canada, 0,50
14. Republic of China (Taiwan), 0,44
15. Austria, 0,37
16. Saudi Arabia, 0,33
17. Germany, 0,30
18. Lebanon, 0,27
19. Australia, 0,25
20. United Kingdom, 0,22
21. Italy, 0,21
22. Chile, 0,20
23. Portugal, 0,19
24. Spain, 0,19

So if you want to be a billionaire, Lichtenstein is a great place to start. There you can inherit a huge power tool company and make it grow like crazy. That is an excellent plan! At least it worked for Lichtenstein’s only billionaire, Michael Hilti. But since it is only one billionaire in Liechtenstein it is possible that the extreme high billionaire density only is a result of her low population:undecide:. In that case Hong Kong would be the best choice. There it seems to be wise to follow in the footsteps of 6 of the 14 billionaires and invest in real estate. I am not sure if Hong Kong counts as a country though as she officially is a part of the People’s Republic of China. So maybe Singapore is the best country for billionaires. 3 of the 5 Singaporean billionaires have made their fortune on banking, so that must be the way to go there. If you want some more challenge you could try a country a little further down the list. It is no less than 30 countries to choose from where the chances of being a billionaire are more than 1 in 10 billion. That is quite good odds I would say:D!

Well, i don't think it depends on country. The tax-paradises like Lichtenstein or financial centers like Hong-Kong attracts rich people, therefore the statistics seem it favor them. But it probably has nothing to do with opportunity to become rich...

good thing, i'm already living where i am ;) but I do agree with winner, it doesn't really matter that much where you live.

No, I have removed all those traitors who didn’t make their fortune from the country they currently live in from the statistics. Hilti built his fortune from Liechtenstein, and the Hong Kong and Singapore billionaires built theirs from their home countries.

Copenhagen, where else?

I might buy a summerhouse some warm place though...

Why isn't Turkey #1 on the list? I'ts so easy to become a billionaire down there. Just go there and change all your money into turkish lira. Thats probably the easiest way to become a billionaire. :p

I plan to stay in the United States, unless an 'economic armageddon' comes...

With the dwindling exchange value of USD, soon everyone in the US will be a billionaire :)

Singapore, low tax, good living standard (even better if a billionaire) and most importantly, good security.

p/s: the GOV is also billionaire friendly.

If I was a billionare. I would not be living in the United States nor the State of Conneticut (after they passed the Millionares tax). I certanly dont want Dubya's bloody hands on my money ;).

If for some incredibly lucky event I ever become a billionaire, I would move to some tax-haven like Liechtestein or the Cayman Islands.

But where to live to make the first billion? Nowadays the place matters less and less, since I can live in stagnat country A and invest in the booming country B.

this though isn't a good way of examining how the pop of billionaries is. each country has a different population which means that this table shows inaccurate results. no offense.

When my son perfects quantum and neuro computers, making Bill Gates look like a popper, I'll have houses in many places. Scuba diving in Egypt, skiing in the Alps and Surfing in Hawaii, marathoning everywhere. Who needs a home base?

Hmmm Where is Monaco on that list?

I always thought that was a tax paradise for the rich. When I get my first billion I'm just going to buy a small country all for myself. I'll be the president, security advisor and head of the central bank all in one. And there will be no taxes... and you will be all welcome to come and visit my very own theme park. :)

I would probably live where i am now, and, when things get gloomy, Vacation!!!

Canada: 0.5. Oh ya! Our Socialist Government has yet to push all of our Billionaires elsewhere because of our high taxes.
