Haha maybe Italy is just California without Hollywood.

I've heard that Fargo in North Dakota has some good software jobs. It's also got a fairly low cost of living as well.

I'd rather shoot myself in the foot.

I'll second the DFW area. They have a booming tech industry. My dad nor the other programmers I know are never for a lack of jobs in the area.

My politics are left of center, vote mostly democrat
I don't have a lot of money at the moment

I'd be very surprised if you couldn't get any weed in Fargo. All these small towns are full of whores and druggies. It's in the big cities where everyone gets clean.

Well, why do not you try to find a job in Malaysia? It is pretty good country if you do not mind an excess of girls with heads covered with scarfs (there are still plenty of girls with uncovered heads).
