And, Masada, I thought you quit for the seventeenth time or something?

Such issues as there were, weren't really as serious as I thought they were.

Well, my DaNES orders are done, but on an offline computer. I'm starting to wonder what people used computers for before the internet.

An interesting thing, I remember very little of what our family used computers before we got our first internet (a 56kb modem back in 1997 :D ) and we've had various computers since 1991 or thereabouts. All of them pre-1997 were old workcomputers Dad brought home when they weren't needed anymore at their office.

The list was an old IBM laptop that couldn't be called a laptop by today's standards*, three old Macs we never ended up using, a 286, 386 and 486, and a 120 mhz comp, before we finally bought a computer of our own in 1997 running Win 95.

Of those pre-1997 comps, the 286, 386, 486 and 120 were running Win 3.1, although the latter was certainly capable of running Win 95.

*It didn't have a battery, it needed to be connected to an outlet, and was huge, bulky and heavy. Still, considerably smaller than the dektops.

Our parents mostly used them for stuff like Excel and Word, either printing stuff out or taking a copy of their work on a floppy to be used at work. Me and my brother used them for, well the obvious, gaming.

[/nostalgia]

I remember using ClarisWorks to draw pictures of trees on an old Macintosh... also playing around with my elementary school's Macs, and that's about all I did with computers until my mom got a Windows 98 around the turn of the millennium to do work at home, and we got a dial-up internet connection set up.

I have a mic for my computer, so now you guys on MSN can hear my amazing voice. Or I could make you guys laugh with my terrible mispronunciations and all that. :'(

I first got a computer with its own modem in 1999. K6 III 450 mhz, 128 ram, S3 graphics card, I played the best games of all time on that computer: half life, ground control, moo2, and civ3.

Prior to that I had a P100 from christmas 1995 to 1999. Come to think of it, I also played the best games of all time on that computer: Duke Nukem 3D, Mechwarrior 2, Transport Tycoon Deluxe. [/nostalgia]

Subbed and quasi-lurking.

So I have found the Warhammer map... who, besides Iggy, :P would be interested?

Yeah I'm interested.

Yeah Iggy I played ground control, never got past one of the missions though... I think it was a base defence or convoy defence or some combination of those. I did some GC multiplayer too, I think the servers are all closed down now though. GCII never grabbed me as much. In fact I haven't slogged through an entire RTS campaign since the original Dune II  Oh wait, I also completed 'Z'!

BTW, where's lord joakim these days, anyone know?

Uh huh.

Nah. I knew Kraz was never gonna give it back to me anyhow after his last couple dick-moves.

I used to like #nes, but now it's just some weird sub-section of fiftychat. I think I'll be going the way of BananaLee now and not coming back.

I really should see if I'm allowed to let the community here read one of my papers. But I'm not sure what the copyright precedent is for online communities -- and I can't think of a neat means of playing down what exactly we do here.
