While We Wait: Boredom Strikes Back

Yeah, I like the added detail, but the added mmourpger like busywork not so much. They dont add much to simulation or historicity after a certain point. (Nothing against internal politics and finessing retainers, but I don't care much for being an accountant otherwise I'd go to economy instead of IT)

That said I dont think I have at the time, the required time for the micromanagement or background reading expected to do well. I can send orders but they would be crappy and unsatisfactory to me and probably you. And of course I would eventually get squashed by players who know more of the era. So instead of ruining a clan I'm handing it back to you. Best of luck and I'll be reading.

WELL OBVIOUSLY a player will update his stats sheet after readding the update so the mod doesn't have to double his noting or even just having to go edit the stats! LIke if the update said you lost 1 eco point and 2 regiments because of bungling then the play has to change his stats sheet to REFLECT DAT DUH

wai you people dum n lazi

the idea is simple have oyu ever played dnd? does the dm go and change players' character sheets after he saysdat player lost 10 hp? OF COURSE NOT ok so I don't see wai anyone would be against players taking stats responsibility for these minor busywork that is BORING AND STUPID except for

you people be dum n lazi

dum and laziNES - should be the new preface to games in which the mod does everything!

We can also have them determine the outcome of their battles, give them complete control over the internal affairs of their nation, and let them handle both sides of any diplomacy they conduct. You wouldn't even need a mod at all!

flyingchicken's D&D analogy is apt. As a mod, I like determining battles, speaking for internal factions, and responding to diplomacy. That is fun and a reason I want to mod. Busywork is not.
As a DM, I like setting up devious traps, arranging encounters, and speaking as NPC characters. But I'd never DM again if my players suddenly told me to pencil in all of their stats every time anything happened, or even every time they advanced a level. Then that D&D game would last maybe 2 sessions and..... oh, wait.

yeah those are all boring busywork and not in the domain of moderator moderating arbitration at all

At any rate that is also an option.

Really, all three positions (mod does everything, mod does the important stuff and leaves "minor paperwork" to players, mod does nothing) are valid. I prefer the former out of laziness and traditionalism, to tell the truth. That and I don't really see how it takes either the mod or the player all that much time, in the end. I think this is faster and safer for the mod to do in one go, rather than relying on other people, though.

But maybe I just never played DnD, just NESes. :p

I basically agree with das.

I can't see how it is quicker to tell the player in the update what stat changes there, than simply changing the stats.. an through that there is less chance of error.

A mod just needs to be more efficient with his ruletype, trim of things that only create hassle and don't improve the game.

Why not use the map from Matt's previous stillborn NES that had a fantasy map? Or has he lost it?

It would be appreciated if a mod could delete this post so the update can be the last three posts of the same page.

Thanks for the enthusiasm, Frozen In Ice ;)

Done!

An Open Letter to North King:

I see that you have successfully completed your N3S Update before I have completed my own. I concede defeat in this matter.

However.

I'm by no means cowed by this setback. I'll challenge you to another race, double or nothing. I will complete not only this current update, but three more updates of GalaxyNES before you are able to release a single update of your own.

Do you accept this updating duel?

-Lord_Iggy
