Social groups aren't perfect but they do have their uses in NESing. Although I admit that it is does get annoying when every single minor treaty and agreement gets its own group. I think they're good but sometimes over-used.

I think that social groups in my NESes have been consistently helpful, both as summary tools for myself and as alliance organizers for players. Can’t speak for anyone else though.

They've been 'useful' to me as mediums of cooperation in a few NESes, but I think chat is the best medium usually.

I prefer my alliance discussion well done and saved. So I like Social Groups.

Besides, remember the time when every player has their own thread for their country for NESes? Yeah, I browse the old NES history every once in a while. Social Groups let you do that without spamming.

My shortest game was 2 weeks, with an unbreakable alliance crushing all of us. (in the middle I offered the 3rd place member 1st place, but he wouldn't bulge)

My longest game lasted 9 weeks of back and worth, back stabbing, stalemate and such. It stopped being fun because everyone got reserves.
