We can start a new game shortly. Let's have a show of interest for another game.

I'd love to try it out.

I have no experience with the game and refuse to learn it before playing with you guys.

I expect to suffer tremendously.

The higher the are, the harder you fall.

nutranurse kept on attacking me by accident, and I eventually stopped believing him after the third time it happened, so I invaded him, shortly after the general subjugation of Matt0088 by Thlayli and I. I cut a deal with Thlayli that was advantageous to him, hoping that we could form an alliance, or at least a friendly border.

As of now, Daftpanzer, my longtime ally, has two fleets totalling around 160 vessels inbound to my stars, and Thlayli has attacked my richest star near his border, claiming that nutranurse gave him an offer better than mine (if that is the case, Thlayli, then can you send my offer back please?). I'm currently trying to sort things out, but I wouldn't put money on myself at this point.

Dafty's fleets could really carve a hole into you!

Well Charles, that pic is taken before any damage was dealt beyond the capture of Arich by Thlayli. Things have proceeded... interestingly from there.

Two things. Watching dune and totally thinking. "ImmacuNES and War on Terror. Yup."

Second. Can you give me a screenie? These games are so fun!

Nutra sent me a ridiculous sum of money and technology, so I considered it rude not to help him.

Also, I wasn't interested in letting you peacefully accrue a massive empire by picking off Nutra and then killing off weak players until you had enough stars to win.

That was, uh, last game.

Daftpanzer's fleets were on internal manouvers. At the present time we remain loyal friends of the Iggyness.

I didn't pick off weak players, I went against nutra when everyone was equal, whilst allied with qoou. I then accrued the area of two players, and expanded, reaching the far side of the map just as Thlayli and Luckymoose had finished off Shadowbound. I grabbed a few outlying systems, then allied with Luckymoose to take down Thlayli, and bring around the endgame. I never picked on a nation that was the weakest at the time when I initiated hostilities against it- bombshoo got taken down by Luckymoose and neighbours, and Tuxedohamm was taken down almost singlehandedly by qoou, in a long dragged-out performance that took most of the game to complete.

Iggy, attempting a completely uneducated guess, I think people subconsciously gang up on you because they believe you're a great player.

I've had issues when beginning to play Magic: the Gathering with more than one opponent. I'm known as the MtG top player in my playgroup, and they usually kick me down whenever I gain reach within a multiplayer game. It's never personal per se, they just don't want me to win because they'd expect me to if they don't completely limit my reach, even though I'd act completely reasonable if they didn't.

But that has nothing to do with this game, of course.

Then again, I could quote Thlayli's last post in this thread. I've just decided not to.

It is the reason I always lose in diplomacy against my friends. Every initial alliance is set against me. My only hope is to betray that alliance by getting a mole within its ranks. However, Neptune's Pride has good rewards for second and third place, which makes alliance play a little more practical.

DipNES06 for those who, like me, go from e-mail notifications directly to the NESes they play in, and never look at the rest of the NESing forum.

:D

Can I polish your lance sire?

In spite of the several days that have passed, only 5 stars have changed hands in Neptune's Pride- merciary's lower two stars have fallen to Shadowbound, I have retaken one of Matt0088's old core systems, Arich, from Thlayli, and Daftpanzer and I have both taken one unclaimed planet for ourselves. Tensions seem to be high between Daft and Shadow, while Thlayli and I have thrown vast numbers of fleets into the bloodbath that is Tania- that system switched hands 5 times last night. I might have lost fewer carriers had I not bumbled my maneuvers due to the Yukon's internet being out last night, which coincidentally also trashed our Dungeons and Dragons session. :(

If I understand correctly, the outage had something to do with a moose chewing through the territory's internet tube.
