While We Wait: Boredom Strikes Back

Our jerk language goes beyond the average human being and your brain assumes it is civility.

Hahahaha. xD

Well, it's been a tendency for as long as I've been here. I try not to be a jerk. Always tell me when I am one.

Actually, to (somewhat) quote a pop show:
"It's okay to be smarter than everyone else, but don't rub it in their faces all the time, because they don't like it."

The guy who's told that doesn't have the ability to understand the sentence because he's a social moron while being a prodigy in physics, and I hope every smart guy in this forum understands that it doesn't have to take being a social moron to be a prodigy somewhere else.

Also, I think you all watch the show, it's more available in the US than it is here. We have to download it.

The apostrophe was my mistake; it was originally meant to be because, but then I changed the sentence around and forgot to remove it. And I'm not talking about any one person specifically; I've just come to think of this forum as some of the brightest peoples on the internet, but at times all I see is Xbox live chat. I mean, where's the need to put someone down or insult them?

Sometimes after a hard day of dealing with worldly stupidity the last place you want to see it is on CFC because it is usually full of bright people.

Not so much that I don't want to see it (its not my job to mod, after all)- I'm just curious why. I doubt anyone acts like they do in real life as they do here. Is it just an internet thing? The whole anonymous factor given in?

Well in the real world you don't talk like that unless you are:

A) good friends
B) stronger than the "dudebro" you are dissin'
C) are stupid and a glutton for punishment (me)
D) you are mad as hell and you just can't take it anymore (flipping the f out, also known as consequences be damned scenario)
E) venting on the weak / stupid (a variant of B I guess)

It is mostly the internet. Though some people have that natural predisposition to act like jerks or be macho, internet or no. I have after enough C, D and E choices learned that being right is not always worth facial remodeling and that I can get my sadomasochistic needs satisfied in other ways. The key is to ignore stupidity like it is not there. Before I learned to chillax, other peoples stupidity often made me rage and sent my blood pressure into 'OMG HURRH CHEST PAINS! HEART GOING TO COLLAPSE! ACK!' territory. Simply not worth it. These days I'm content with cold contempt of offending parties.

I think my behavior here is roughly the same, except here I do a lot of my talking with my hands. I don't do that so much outside of the internet.

If you think I'm a jerk online it is because you haven't met me in person. I'm working on it, but yes, sometimes I'm just meanspirited. I'm trying to be nicer.

If you think that my phrasing and word choice is awkward online, again, you haven't met me in person. Can you imagine how much more exponentially awkward it is to actually enunciate these words?

If you think I'm weird, or that I have too much time on my hands based on what you see on the internet... you don't know the half of it.

My point being that yes, my online persona is different from me IRL, my online persona is significantly toned down. Especially in an autocensor PG rated forum.

Thank you, your cooperation is much appreciated. :)

Can I get unbanned from #nes now? thanks

My online persona is somewhat like me: I'm generally a nice guy who dislikes lying (half-truths are still true!) and enjoys stories. A little eccentric: but hey, I'm an Asian without Tiger Parents, how eccentric can you get? Generally, I get good grades with tough classes. Compared to online, generally I get nations with tough positions because it is !!FUN!! and for story purposes when I find the time to write anything I feel deserves to be published on the net. (which is not often)

You know, I don't want to go all pop psychology on you, but since when do intelligent people have any less of a propensity to act like dicks?

I read that as "since when do intelligent people have any less of a propensity to act like Dachs?"

I like my version more. And I feel like you should start referring to yourself in the 3rd person more often...than just inside my head.
