While We Wait: Boredom Strikes Back

while we're speaking about re-establishing community threads, can the stickies by the permanently banned user be taken down and replaced by an active member of the community who can actually edit them?

it would probably be better for the face of the nesing community if its stickies were not controlled by a member permanently banned by cfc moderation

Yeah, this.

Nylan, Adrogans, Tuxedohamm, in order of personal preference. Also, Kraz's suggestion concerning the stickies is a sensible one. There's literally no reason not to do it that I can see.

I suppose we need a poll first...

Anyone could have started the poll. I'll do it now.

Someone can open a new FAQ thread and copy the appropriate content, then i will unsticky the old one.

Switched out, NK.

umm, why was the notice board locked? the whole point of a notice board is to be constantly updated

also, the notice board still contains PDMA

Thanks!

There are a LOT of interesting old maps buried deep in the older threads... I'm taking the nicer ones and putting them in the OPs.

I locked it to keep folks from posting inappropriately. I will unlock it tomorrow.

IMNSHO, there is no PDMA in the OP. It is just fine as it reads now.

it discusses a moderator action (a permban)

it's also ridiculous that the nesing board talks about "fond memory" of a permbanned member in a sticky

it's also also ridiculous that the formatting is in a quote and therefore annoying to parse and edit

the notice board should be a utility thread not a memorial for a permbanned member

It doesn't 'discuss' anything.

Your post I am quoting is far more PDMA than what you want removed. and furthermore, if you had been concerned about that thread being only a utility thread, you would not have posted : "you people can't even be helped at this point". Does that belong in a utility thread?

Rather than just PM me with your complaint you took the grandstanding "look at me" approach both here and in reporting the thread.

obviously the restrictions for PDMA should be far stricter in the OP of a sticky thread than a discussion post in WWW

furthermore the value of the thread was nil after the terrible OP was posted so i had no concerns about commenting in the thread

how is private reporting (which you brought up, btw) a look at me approach? i post in www with my issues since anything basically goes in this thread

This is the most salient complaint, Bird. It makes the rollover for the thread read as a memorial rather than a welcoming of new members, and if we want to quote or edit certain sections we have to copy-paste, which does not work particularly well in this forum.

EDIT: I also can't see how post #5015 is PDMA, since unlike the thread it doesn't implicitly pass (negative) judgement on moderator actions.

by the way, the original thread was created by thlayli, so if anything, the thread should credit him for content rather than the permbanned member, who ripped it off without crediting the original author

Abbadon's name is mentioned twice. Which one causes you trouble?
