While We Wait: Boredom Strikes Back

Anyone want a Civ2 succession game while we wait for Abaddon to start a Civ3 one?

I have Civ2 MGE and ToT installed.

@Lucky we could try a conquests game sometime if you want. The in-game multiplier seems to work except I can't see any games, tho there is a direct IP option which might work.

Should I have a BT in my NES where the merchants take power off the elites and turn the city into a mercantile republic (as all my aristocratic players have quit), and restart it in a few weeks time, or should I give up and start planning SprylliNES II?

I'd be down for that. We could play on like a giant Japan map or something.

How precisely? What states do you want? What do you want cleaned up about your map?

Spoiler :

1. I really only want the 5 or 6 biggest states of the Holy Roman Empire. Probably the Habsburg holdings, Luxembourg holdings, the Palatinate, etc.
2. I want more visually appealing colors and "cleaner borders"

So....what exactly happend to the Bahamani/Gulbarga Sultanate, Vijaynagar Empire, why does the Delhi Sultanate own Nepal but not Bengal, why are the Delhi Sultanates borders so horrible?

India should look at least vaguely like this:

I'll try and get it finished before I go on holiday in two days' time, and I'll try and incorporate Karalysia's maps. If I don't manage that, it'll have to wait until I come back on Thursday.

EDIT:

Should Austria really go that far down the Danube?
Should Pomerania really own Brandenburg?

The states that I have determined to add as important are:

The Habsburg domains
The Luxemburg domains
Lorraine
Savoy
Milan
The Swiss Confederacy

Electorates:

Trier
Cologne
Mainz
Saxony
Palatinate

In Bavaria we have Upper Bavaria (in Union with Tyrol), Bavaria-Straubing (in Union with Holland), and Bavaria-Landshut.

I've added Hesse, Brunswick-Luneburg and Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel.

I've left Pomeranian-controlled Brandenburg as it is because you put it like that.

There's a lot of empty space, though, and a lot of countries there. I thought though it would be best to be as accurate as possible, so you can delete superfluous nations and fill the gaps however you like.

India remains a mess, as I know very little about it, but I've tried to put in some of the information from Karalysia's 1396 map.

I've rationalised the borders and put in a few colour changes, but I can't say I've been completely comprehensive as far as colours are concerned.

Anyway, I hope it's somehow useful even if it's not actually quite what you wanted. I'm sure you can copy and paste in and out if bits are wrong.

Wow thank you very much sprylino. I haven't had much time to check yet, so did you just implement basic borders of the Holy Roman Empire, or did you change what needed changing, a la the alternate history? It's fine either way of course.

@Karalysia my knowledge of medieval Indian history leaves much to be desired, YET the Delhi Sultanate should be relatively stronger compared to our Chagatid friends.

Noobs, I'll fix India.

I have made the assumption that Muhammad Shah Thulaq came to power, which is why all those countries exist. He was a interesting character but he more or less singlehandedly brought the Delhi Sultanate to its knees.

The states present are:

Delhi Sultanate
Sindh
Gujarat
Malwa
Khandesh
Gulbarga Sultanate
Bengal
Teligana/Warangal
Orissa
Vijaynagar Empire
Tibet
Ahom Kingdom

I just put in the states that I listed (the ones I thought were the most important) and left the rest of the HRE grey, according to our timeline, with the exception of Pomerania, which I supposed was like that on purpose.

No thanks to NK, Luckymoose and the other faithless D&D people (so... Ken and Owen), the updating of my NES has been delayed by several hours. I'm gonna work on it non-stop (until I become too exhausted) tonight, but here's a preview of the map for my players (I fiddled around with city-styles for an hour or so, considering visibility and aesthetic value and thematic whatever, and I think Daftpanzer's Alternate History Experiment-style cities were the best for my purposes):

Who is playing d&d, an how?

Various individuals, who gather on #nes and then utilize a sub-channel to do their dark cultic rituals innocent fantasy gaming.

On another fantasy note, what authors (if any) do you guys read? I like a lot of the young guns coming out in the genre (Abercrombie, Erikson, Lynch, Rothfuss) though some of them are prone to over-bleakness. I like Scalzi on the science fiction side, but I'm not really as interested in that genre.

Sci Fi or pretty much nothing for me. I've been reading through the Night's Dawn trilogy off and on for over a year now. I like some Iain M. Banks too.

I haven't read a work of fiction in...a very long time.

FC has a campaign going for us since the beginning of June but its on hiatus while he works out some kinks in the setting. North King has been working on and is now getting prepared to start his campaign in the next week. Kentharu, Owenglyndwr, North King and Kal'Thzar were/are in FC's campaign with me. Mostly the same group plus bestshot and Shadowbound for NK's.

:/ aww, why did noone tell me?

God, after writing, deleting, rewriting, deleting, and rewriting again I think I've found the style I'm most comfortable with narrating events in a fresh start NES.
